I am researching my husband's German ancestors, and in the Census records I find some intries that I would like clarified, as to their meaning. In the section for birth place of parents they list Ger/Gere German (not Germany) in the 1910 Census. In the 1880 Census one family member lists the birth place of her parents as Hesse C. We knew that this has something to do with Germany because in later census they are listed as Germany. Can anyone tell me what these two references mean. Are they actually referring to a specific location in Germany? Pat Durham McRae, in Indiana
