When the soldier dies the wife has to give very pertinent information to prove she was married to the solider to get his pension of $12.00 and there you will find her maiden name. If he out lived her there should still be info. on her because they ask the solider if he married, when he married and if he has children. It use to take several months to get the Civil War Records and I'm sure the price has increased but the info is well worth it. Better order fast!
