The below William Couch is my GGF. For the last ten years I have been looking for his parents. My suspicions are that they were William Couch born about 1815 in KY and Dougherty Hall born about 1815. But, I have not been able to prove that. They did have a son named William born about 1852-1854 which would be about the same time as my William, but that doesn't prove anything. He seems likely because I have eliminated most of the other William Couch's in that area for various reasons, age, marriages, other parents, etc. But, I need proof positive or negative. I have William Couch and his wife (Mary Jane "Polly" McIntosh)'s children and their decendents and the McIntosh line, but have never been able to know for sure who William's parents were. I would love to know which of the Couch lines William decends from. The 1880 Perry County census is the only census that I have been able to find them together on. Then, in 1884 Mary Jane McIntosh remarries to John Huston Smith and they have five children and continued to live in Perry County, until at least the 1940's. Are there any decendents of this Smith family out there who might can answer my question about Mary's first husband? I would love to hear from you. John Huston Smith born 4/16/1860 Buckhorn,Perry County. He was the son of Huston Smith and Nancy Allen. And the grandson of Jeremiah Smith b. 1794 and Elizabeth "Betsy" Jones. Which are also related to me through my Smith lines. (Jeremiah Smith was my GGG Grandfather on the Smith side of my family). I have no idea what happened to William Couch. William and Mary had one more child - Arkansas Couch after the 1880 census. Arkansas was born in December 1882, in Perry County. Two years later Mary is remarried, so what happened to William Couch? Did he die, they divorce, go to jail, run off, what? If you know who William's parents were, or what happened to him after the 1880 census, I would love to know. Thank you.
