In 1867 he married Mary Rogers (also an immigrant from Ireland) in Woodford Co, KY. They had 5 children, including Michael Lewis Harmon b.1871, d.1934 (note the spelling change on the surname), who was my great-grandfather. Mike married Hallie Mae Hackney. They both were born, lived, and died in Woodford Co, KY. Their sons were Everett (whose wife was always called Mary French, but I know nothing about her) and John Ernest(my grandfather) b.1909, who married Clarine Ockerman of Nicholas Co, KY. I have NOT been able to establish when John and Mary came over from Ireland, ship name, port of entry, etc. The names are too common and I don't know which area of Ireland they were born in, or the names of parents or siblings. I realize this is a long shot, but if this rings any bells I would be grateful for information or suggestions. Of the Ockermans, I have traced them back to Daniel Ockerman, b. 1764 in Pennsylvania, d. 1842 in Highland Co, Ohio. I believe the family came from Germany along the O(c)ker River, as part of the big Palatine emigration. There are apparently 4 genetic lines of Ocker-folk, or Ocker-men as they were called; one line came from the Isle of Oker in Sweden; the other 3 lines are German or Swiss in origin. Daniel was a Dunkard (German Brethren) minister, believed to have been in Rowan County, NC during 1790's, moved through Craven County, NC on the way to East Union, (Hinkston Creek), Nicholas County, KY. Lived in the area of Bath/Nicholas County, KY until around 1812 when moved to Highland County, OH. There were three lines of Ockermans around Bath, Nicholas, KY. I would love to find proof of Daniel's immigration, such as ship passenger list, etc. Many thanks for reading!
