My father only told me before his death that he and his brother were brought from Florida about 1920 and placed eventually in an orphanage either in Jeffersonville Indiana which there was an orphanage in Jeffersonville in 1920. He told me that he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisville Kentucky but I have been unable to locate whether the orphanage was in Jeffersonville or in Louisville. I do not know how to get in touch with the First Baptist Church in Louisville to see if they have records of my father being a member there. I do not know where my grandfather John Dixon died as I have been told that he died in Jeffersonville but I am at a loss on where to begin to find information about my father.
