Listmembers: Within the past month or so, I am certain that many of you have been aware that the Myfamily.com pages have shifted to becoming a site that will be in a "Pay" format for any data over 5 MG, our Kentuckiana site as of last night had 23 MG of data. As I have done with another myfamily.com site I maintained, I am in the process of moving our page to another site that will be free. I have begun with the photos as those are the largest items in most cases and have brought our total data stored into the range of 3.87 MB by doing this. It may not seem to many of you to be necessary but 5MB is not much space and I know that many of you have more to add in the future. This process will take a few days and I will attempt to complete it ASAP. I am asking that anyone who has items to place on the new pages, send them to ME and please DON'T place them on the myfamily site as I am trying to deplete its content in moving. There will be many questions from some of you as to why not just pay for the site... Well, it is more a matter of principle for me, as I cannot justify having to pay to access items that we all have placed on the pages. If anyone is interested in viewing the new pages in progress, please let me know and I will send the url...at present time please reference the myfamily site for the majority of your data. I will be taking it off of there as it is transferred. I will also let everyone know when the process is completed and I close the Kentuckiana myfamily site. If for any reason.....anyone has any items on the myfamily site that they don't wish to have on a public site, please go in and remove those items today. WHAT WE WILL LOOSE IN CHANGING THE SITE OVER: 1. The ability to have Family Trees on the page (I am working on doing a page for GEDCOM exchange) 2. The ability to post items yourself. Items will need to be sent to myself or my father, Dick Carter for posting. WHAT WE WILL IN A SENSE GAIN FROM DOING THIS: 1. We will maintain our data and not loose any of it. 2. We will be able to continue free access. 3. We will no longer have a need for a password and the problems associated with it. I look forward to your opinions on this situation. Also, I will soon be taking names for listing on a surname registry for our researching area. I have other ideas for items/categories for our pages, however, my most immediate concern is to move all current items off the page first.
