My Paternal Grandfather was struck & killed by a hit-run truck while walking along Highway 60 one mile west of Owensboro about 8:45 pm Thursday, July 8th, 1937. The accused was quoted as saying the lights on his truck snapped off after he left home, near the death scene, & that he drove to the Kentucky Inn ( 200 yards away ) & turned back toward his home, on Highway 60, by the road that passes to the south of the Inn. Granpappy's 1 claim to fame, in Life, is the front page photo of his Blanket covered body in the July 9 Owensboro Messenger. ;-D His story was in the paper all summer, then disappeared, and there is a mystery surrounding the whole situation, and its aftermath. The Kentucky Inn is gone, I think, but I'd like to know how I can learn more about it, and where, exactly it was located during its existence. Also, any suggestions for locating old police, and especially court, records such as Coroner's Jury, Grand Jury, and Quarterly Court, Records if they exist? -- MR.
