    3. The asylum in Louisville in the 1850's was called the Anchorage Insane Asylum. My cousin was put there for killing Judge Thomas M. Elliott on March 26, 1879. Because of the notoriety of the murder Tom had two trials. The second one finally proved him insane so as to save him from the hangman. He died there in 1885. I never have found out where he was buried and was never able to get his records from the hospital. Even after so long a time they don't seem to want to give them up.
