    3. Tom, Do you know the parents of your Katherine Postlewait ? I have a Dr. William Postlewait who married Martha Waters Smith Sept.13,1846. They were on the 1870 Jefferson co.Ky census, for some reason I didnt write down the childrens names. Your Katherine could possibly be their daughter tho. Martha Waters Smiths parents were Peter and Katherine Miller Smith of Bullitt co.Ky. Martha Poslewait b.ca 1826 Bullitt co. Ky, I dont have any dates for Dr.Postlewait. Hope this has helped some, Im sure the 1870 Jeff co.census lists names of their children. thanks, Joan in Tn

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Info on KY Counties
    2. Judynacke
    3. Ancestral Trails Historical Society covers Hardin, Meade, Breckinridge, Grayson, Hart, Nelson, Bullitt, Jefferson counties in KY and Harrison County in Indiana. They have published books on most of these counties. Hardin and Meade counties are especially well covered with birth, marriage, census, cemetery and other genealogy records. Most other counties have at least one or more books. These books can be purchased from ATHS or view in libraries. The society has done a wonderful job of perserving records for those counties. <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyaths/resource.htm">ATHS Research and Resource</A>

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Helpful people!!!
    2. Dee
    3. Hi everyone! I just got back from Brandenburg, Meade Co., KY.... Thanks to Lisa Whiting looking up my great-great grandfather....I was able to find more information on him today! You all may remember a while back I told you the following: I'm looking for any information on any Fenix/Phenix families anywhere in the US. My James Fenix m. Minerva Pipes 30 AUG 1881 in Meade Co., KY...but this is all I have on him. Lisa responded right away...she checked out her census cd and found my James in the 1870 Meade Co., KY census. The census records for Meade Co. are not indexed anywhere locally....so I hadn't been able to find him in that census yet...and probably wouldn't have for a while! But thanks to Lisa's look-up I was able to go right to the page! And boy what a find! Not only do I have an estimated birth year now(1824)..but I also have a birth place(TN) *and*.....something totally unexpected...a first wife and two more children!!! Look-ups like this take very little of our time...but it can mean a BIG leap for our fellow genealogists!!! Please take a minute to check your resources when someone requests information. Thanks so much Lisa!! Dee Listowner for KENTUCKIANA-L Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/

    2. Lois Mauk
    3. Looking for anyone with info (no matter how vague) on HOPEWELL BAPTIST CHURCH (apparently now defunct) which was located in Clark County, Indiana, in the mid- to late 1800s. Would particularly like to learn if the congregation changed names or merged with one that survives today. The McClintick/Sylvester Cemetery (which is referred to in 19th Century newspaper clippings and elsewhere as "Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery) is featured on my website at: www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/mcclintickcem.html Our clean-up of this site is set to begin in the next few weeks and I would dearly love to track down this congregation, which was probably in the area of Utica Township or Silver Creek Township. 3. Hi everyone! I've added the following this morning: Another family group sheet...The family of John Pavey. I've added another look-up volunteer....James VanDerMark! 4 more gedcoms have been donated to us! Ayers, Frasure, Robbins and Schmidt. There are many surnames in these gedcoms so go take a look! You may be able to make a connection! This is all I will be able to get done this morning! I'm going out with my three monsters (some would call them children ;-))....we're going to Cedar Cemetery in Leavenworth for a picnic with our ancestors! This was *their* idea! :-) I was going to take them to the park! I'm so glad they're getting so involved in genealogy. Thanks! 1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Hoosier Journal of Ancestry
    2. Lois Mauk
    3. Some of you may be interested in obtaining copies of Hoosier Journal of Ancestry publications. I just received a current price list and thought I'd pass it on to this group. (BTW, I have *NO* financial interest in these publications.) The Journal publishes genealogical and historical records from 30 counties in southeastern Indiana -- Bartholomew, Brown, Clark, Crawford, Dearborn, Decatur, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Greene, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Ohio, Orange, Owen, Ripley, Rush, Scott, Shelby, Switzerland, Union, Washington and Wayne Counties. My personal favorite is the "Clark County Cemeteries" publication which I use extensively. It contains row-by-row indexes of 26 Clark County cemeteries -- certainly not all of the 180 we've identified to date, but a highly useful reference nonetheless. The "Clark County Cemeteries" publication includes a roadmap for each township as well as directions to the specific locations. If you are interested in any of these, there is an order form for purchasing some of the publications relating specifically to Clark County, Indiana at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/HoosierJournal.html (this is a case-sensitive URL) I believe these are very reasonably priced and useful additions to any Hoosier researcher's library. Unfortunately, the publisher does not, to my knowledge, have a website or e-mail. The snail-mail address and phone is at the bottom of this message. The following SPECIAL ISSUES are available and include records such as biographies, census records, cemetery records, church history, county organization, Civil War discharges, court order book records, county history, indenture records, land records, maps, marriage records, mortality schedules, probate records, county settlement, stock marks, tax lists, township organization and wills. (The contents of the SPECIAL ISSUES vary from county to county.) Clark County Special #1 $ 7.50 + tax/S&H 137 pages Clark County Special #2 $10.00 + tax/S&H 107 pages Clark County Cemetery Book $10.00 + tax/S&H 139 pages (canvas of 26 cemeteries) Jackson County Special #1 $10.00 + tax/S&H 135 pages Jackson County Special #2 $10.00 + tax/S&H 140 pages Jackson County Special #3 $12.00 + tax/S&H 102 pages Jefferson County Special #1 $15.00 + tax/S&H 129 pages (BACK IN PRINT) Jefferson County Special #2 $10.00 + tax/S&H 166 pages Jefferson County Special #3 $12.00 + tax/S&H 100 pages Jefferson County Special #4 $12.00 + tax/S&H 150 pages Jennings County Special #1 $12.50 + tax/S&H 150 pages Jennings County Special #2 $10.00 + tax/S&H 140 pages Jennings County Special #3 $12.00 + tax/S&H 100 pages Orange County Special $12.50 + tax/S&H 100 pages Scott County Special #1 $10.00 + tax/S&H PRE-PUBLICATION PRICE Switzerland County Special $12.50 + tax/S&H 100 pages Washington Co. Also, *Indiana residents* must include STATE SALES TAX OF FIVE PERCENT (5%). A variety of back issues of the volumes of the Hoosier Journal of Ancestry are also available for costs of $10-$15. These volumes vary from 118-281 pages each. I'm sure the publisher will gladly send you additional information on the current availability of Volumes 1 through 21. Please don't contact me for further information. I've told you everything I know right here. You need to communicate directly with: Naomi Keith Sexton Hoosier Journal of Ancestry P.O. 3. Good afternoon Fellow Researchers. I 'am Looking for some information on my G.G.Grandmother Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Readnour (b) Dec 1866 . My Grandmother said she can remember her Grandfather Louis Haley. Louis Haley (b) 15 Jan 1863 (d) Sep 1925 Ky s/o Joseph Haley & Mary Porter. I also think Mary ( Betty ) was married to Lewis Souder. I found a Lewis & Mary E. Souder on the 1900 Pendleton Census Records with 8 children. I have not found any Records of Mary ( Betty ) with Louis Haley. On Viola North's ( d/o Lewis & Mary Souder ) death record her husband James Daniel North listed Viola's father as Lewis Souder and Mother as Mary Readnour ( spelling may vary on surnames). Does Anyone know anything about this family or where I may be able to find out more on this family. Thank You for taking the time to read my letter and help in any way. Karen Whitlock
