I am very pleased to hear that Jefferson Co., IN is being added to the list. I have a number of ancestors who settled there. I would like to hear from anyone who has connections to the McClanahan, Roseberry, Earhart, Hutton, Waldsmith, or Wells families. Ardath Blue Edna, TX
Hi all! I just wanted to let ya'll know that I have taken over the Scott Co., INGenWeb site. You can see my new pages at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inscott I have decided that, as soon as I get all the donations I've received posted, I am going to work on census records. I would like to get the 1820 census for every county we cover on-line! If you have this census for any of our counties, or would be willing to transcribe it for me it would be *very* appreciated! So far we only have the 1820 Crawford Co. on-line. Speaking of Counties....after receiving several requests, I have decided to add two counties to the list for Kentuckiana......Bullitt Co., KY and Jefferson Co., IN (You'll see the changes on our site in the next few days) If you have ancestors in these counties we now cover them also! :-) Please send in your records...I don't get to these counties at all, so I will be most dependant on you all to help me out with information to post! Thanks for being such a great group!! :-) Dee Listowner for KENTUCKIANA-L Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/

I have just put in another piece of the puzzle. I have discovered that JAMES HUMPHREYS married JANE DEVERS on 30 March 1811 in Hardin Co. KY. I do have the name of one of their children, ELIZABETH JANE, who married PETER N. MORGAN in 1846 in Meade Co. KY. Is anyone researching either the names HUMPHREYS OR DEVERS in those areas? Thank you. Marilyn Garrison
If anyone runs into the name JAMES MAXWELL in the process of researching Jefferson County and Louisville KY please let me know. Thanks to information out of the Filson Club's marriage records I have a firm confirmation that JAMES MAXWELL, JR. married MARY ANN BECKWITH (1840) and therefore was my ggg grandfather. I have no further info on him except that he died before 1848. Thank you, Tim Jones
Hi all I am researching the ADERS /ADER / Aters surname in Perry County Indiana. I am wondering if someone would have access to 1880 census that might be able to do a look-up for me? My ggrandfather had a sister MARTHA that married WILSON SMITH in 1878 in Perry Co. I can't find ANYTHING on her family. Her brothers obituary said she was still living in Indiana at the time of his death in 1923 here in Missouri. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks June

I am would like to locate a book published by the family of Isaac Barton, who came to PA from Ireland in 1714. (a Quaker family) Notes I have from another researcher indicated that it was to have been published around 1983. Peggy Barton (Marsh) Carter was president of the family association and was referred to as the "historian of our branch of Bartons". A Barton reunion was held in TN in 1983 at which time this book was to have been ready for distribution. If anyone knows about this book, I would appreciate hearing from you. (or where I might see or obtain a copy?) Thanks, Lena Barton Peters
Hi everyone! I feel now is a good time to remind everyone what area this list covers..... The following counties in Indiana: Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Harrison, Lawrence, Orange, Perry Scott and Washington. in Kentucky: Breckinridge, Hardin, Jefferson and Meade If you have no ancestors from this area you're on the wrong list. Since posting about the 1820 Crawford Co. Census, I have received four e-mails asking me what State Crawford Co. is in....I've also received e-mails from people asking me why I've included Indiana on the Kentuckiana list......if you notice the last part of the word Kentuckiana....the "iana" is for Indiana. This area I live in is called Kentuckiana. And for those of you who don't know that this mailing list is a "spin-off" of a web site, please visit Kentuckiana Genealogy at: http://www.aye.net/~dee1234 Be sure and check out the link for the mailing list. There is a good message there that I would like everyone to read. Thanks everyone! :-) Dee Floyd-Pavey Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/ My Ancestors http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/genealogy.html
HEADSTONE REPAIR PROCEDURES WILL BE DEMONSTRATED AT THE NEXT MEETING OF THE CLARK COUNTY CEMETERY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE Cemetery restoration veteran Dan Johnson of Sellersburg will be demonstrating the techniques he has developed for repairing headstones at the April 4th meeting of the Clark County Cemetery Preservation Committee. The group will meet Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Clarksville Library. Dan Johnson and his wife Betty last year completed their fifth Clark County cemetery restoration project -- Plum Run Cemetery near Hamburg. It was a monumental undertaking with over 115 known burials. The Johnsons are probably the most experienced cemetery preservationists in the area. They are also the Township Captains for Silver Creek Township and will be spearheading the upcoming cleanup of the old Francis Wells Family Cemetery in Sellersburg. The focus of the April meeting will be discussion of pioneer cemeteries within Jeffersonville Township, scheduling work dates for clean-up efforts at the Francis Wells Family Cemetery in Silver Creek Township and McClintick/Sylvester Cemetery in Jeffersonville Township as well as making plans for restoration work at other sites throughout the county. Following the April 4th meeting, members of the group plan to visit pioneer cemeteries in Jeffersonville Township. The public is invited to attend. The May meeting will be held at 2 P.M. on the first Saturday in May at Pyke Funeral Home at 209 South Ferguson in Henryville when the group will focus on pioneer cemeteries in Monroe Township. Anyone interested in helping to identify, assess, restore, preserve and protect abandoned and neglected pioneer cemeteries in Clark County is invited to attend. Volunteers are desperately needed to assist in these efforts, especially church and civic groups, including individuals willing to make short-term, even one-day commitments to the projects. People with outdoor power equipment (chain saws and heavy-duty weed cutters) are also urgently sought. The Indiana Department of Transportation has a map that was just put out this year that out-line the counties of Indiana very well. You don't have to look hard at all to see what county you are looing in, as they are in big orange letters. About KY, it only shows the sourrounding areas of each state, and the only counties in KY that are shown (and not in full view) are Henderson, Hancock, Breckinridge, Meade, Hardin, Jefferson, Oldham, Trimble, Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Owen Grant, Boone, and I do'nt know where the Ohio ones come in, but I think that Boone is an Ohio county down there by Dearborn county Indiana. Hope this helps You can visit IDOT at this web site: www.ai.org/dot or call them at 1 - 800 - 45 - STATE or 1 - 800 - 291 - 8844 Later, Jodie
