Am looking for parents of John Lane, born January (?), 1817 in Kentucky (county unknown) and was married in Harrison Co, IN to Mary Ann White 14 April 1838. Census records say that both of John's parents were born in VA. Any help would be most appreciated.
I am looking through 1840, 1870, 1880, and 1900. I do know that there is a 1850 census book completed for the county that I am looking for. Teresa
If I am looking for a particular family in a county census and don't know what township they were in at a certain census years; would there be an easier way to find them besides going through the whole census microfilm? Teresa
Forgive my ignorance of Methodism, but can someone enlighten me? I read that my gggrandfather was made a Bishop of the United Methodist Church in1852 with Indianapolis as his Episcopal residence. He was Edward Raymond AMES, (born 20 May 1806 Amesville, Ohio; died 25 April 1879 at Baltimore, MD), he married Henrietta BEACH, on 1 January 1834 at Jeffersonville, Clark Co., Indiana, and their daughter was Annie E. AMES born 24 October 1835 at Jeffersonville, Indiana. I have never heard of Methodist bishop here in England (nor of a Methodist cathedral - surely a bishop has a cathedral?). Do they still exist, and if so is it an American phenomenon. Is there still a bishop at Jeffersonville? Or a cathedral? Richard Ames Brown
Thanks everyone for the input re BIGE being Abijah..... NOW... can anyone tell me what kind of name that is. NAPIER is Scottish. Personally, I've seen Bige a few times (not many), but never Abijah. Much obliged. Abijah is a BIBLICAL name.
I agree with Sue. This is most likely a nickname for Abijah. Pat

HI Terry! The first thought was Benjamin, but maybe someone else knows better. I have some of these surnames in my database at home, which I will check out tonight. I also have Cannon ancestors. I'm sitting here in Sarasota myself! Good luck! Samuel Beach (born 7 November 1774), his wife Anna, and children William , Sally Ann , and Henrietta emigrated from New Jersey to Jeffersonville, IA around 1816. Any suggestions about possible records (such as a grave) relating his wife Anna which might give a clue to her identity? He died away from home in 1836, but she presumably continued there. Hi everyone! I just want to let you all know of the update I made today. I've added some deeds, many family group sheets, and I've begun on the 1850 Dubois Co., IN census. I'll upload new pages as I go. I've changed the look of the main page, the table we had before was getting too long! If the resolution on your computer isn't set to 800 X 600 you won't see the page right. (and my guess is there are many other pages you're seeing a little crooked) Try setting your resolution to 800 X 600...everything will straighten out. Also....if you want to unsubscribe from the list, please be sure your return e-mail address is the same one you are subscribed under. If not, you won't be unsubscribed. I've been offered help by so many of you! :-) Thanks! I think I have enough help now. ;-) And for the few of you who mentioned having others take care of certain counties....it's an idea, but not one I want to do. I'm trying to show how the counties are connected.....and separating the counties wasn't what I had in mind. Thanks again to all of you! :-) Dee Listowner for KENTUCKIANA-L Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/
