Hi! Sorry to post this to list but I lost last six months of research notes and 4 months of archived email when I had a partial melt down of my computer. I corresponded with someone regarding the Markwell name (the names Hooper and McCullough may have been involved) and I'm hoping it was someone from this list. If we corresponded regarding Miranda Jane Markwell and Rhoda Ann Smith (McCullough) will you please email me again. Thanks, Pat Mount
Ok, ok ....I heard you and am responding. It looks like it's roll call time again! But, as some of you who have been on the list for a long time may remember, I give notice first! I'm calling for a roll call of the Kentuckiana list for this weekend, beginning on July 25th and ending on July 27th. Why the notice? Well, I'm sure many of you have seen alot of people get mad when roll calls start on other lists, and some of those are smaller lists than this one. So announcing the dates will allow those of you who do not want to receive all of the e-mails to unsub, then re-sub after roll call. This will also allow you all time to get your information together to post. None of this should stop anyone from posting to the list now if they want to....there just will not be an "official" roll call until the weekend. So get your information ready! And for those of you who do not like roll call, I'm sorry, and if you unsub, we hope to have you back after the 27th! Thanks, Dee Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/

Good morning Carol, It is great to hear from McCoys with roots in this area. In your last post you wrote: <Greetings! Am doing McCoy research, primarily in Iowa at this time, but always interested in the surname. have been working on the NICKELSON line and haven't gotten as deep into the MC COY line yet. Family reunion in Morland Kansas Aug 9th. Briefly:> I am searching for anything about ROBERT MCCOY who married Corinna Pearman in Meade Co KY in 1857. They moved to Arkansas County AR before 1860 along with some of the Pearmans. Our grandmother told us that Robert owned three boats. He operated these boats on the Ohio, Mississippi, and Arkansas rivers. During the Civil War these boats were used by the Confederates. She said he was killed by carpetbaggers after the war when he was showing them a shortcut to the river. (Arkansas River). Our grandmother never trusted "yankees" after that. I can find nothing to back up this story but grandmother was well read and intelligent. She was also a devout christian and I have no reason to discount this. I just wish that I could prove the story. I would also love to find Roberts parents and siblings. Robert and Corinna had three children: Elizabeth--Kate--Curtis. I hope to solve this mystery. (need help) Thanks for your prompt reply. Best wishes, Sue Perry Searching for MCCOY-PEARMAN-FIELD
