Hello, I am new to the list and I am trying to find info on CRANFORD's who either came out of Indiana and moved to North Carolina, or from North Carolina to Indiana. I have found a Marvel CRANFORD who was head of household in Washington Co, in 1820. But prior to this, he was in Montgomery County, NC. In 1830, Marvel CRANFORD is back in Montgomery County, but he has two sons who show up on the Montgomery County, NC census in 1860 as being born in Indiana. These two sons were named Kindred CRANFORD and Loveless or Lovelace CRANFORD. Is anyone researching Cranford's from Washington County or from the nearby areas? If so, please contact me my line runs in Montgomery County, NC and I am trying to determine where the line originates. Thanks in advance! Sincerely, Cathy Ailstock
If anyone has FTM Marriage CD2, would you mind doing a lookup as follows: Thomas Jefferson Wiles to Minerva Trusty around 1880 Thanks. Patti Wiles-Sweeney
Hi! Does anyone have information on Walter Albert LANTZ (Parents were Eli LANTZ & Angeline TEETS). Walter was possibly born in Williams County OH or Howard County IN; he lived part of his life (eary 1900's) in Kentucky & Virginia. Walter migrated to Patton, Cambria County, PA and married Mary Dobronski in 1912. He left her in about 1917 to 1918 and his whereabouts is unknown from then on. I would appreciate anyone with any information regarding these people. Thanks! Sylvia Lantz
Hello again.... just a quick note to let everyone know that we here in Georgetown (Floyd Co., IN) are doing ok......even with a lion on the loose! yes...you read that right...a lion!!! They don't know where it came from....or how it got in Georgetown (no Zoo's nearby) but they have *stopped searching*!!! They say that the lion is probably in hiding and will come out when he gets hungry! ummmm...I have a problem with that! I don't want to be his next meal! Actually...it's a small lion....only a little over knee high...about a year old. They did say it was probably being kept illegally and the person realized they couldn't control it. But still! A LION!!!! If anyone has any good lion traps send them my way! ;-) Dee Listowner for KENTUCKIANA-L Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/
Hi again everyone! This will be my last update for a couple weeks. We're in the process of converting our garage into an office :-) We finally got our loan through and are beginning our remodeling...my office will be the first thing we do! :-) We have many new listmembersagain! (about 25 subscribed today) Welcome to you all! We have lost only three since my announcement of a roll call this weekend. Everyone remember to get your information ready! Some advice for the roll call: In your subject line don't put "Roll Call" Eventually some will just begin to delete these without scanning the e-mail. Put surnames in your subject line. In the body of your message, make only surnames all caps. This way people who are only scanning can spot your surnames easily. Roll Call starts "officially" on Saturday morning July 25th and ends on Monday morning July 27th. But feel free to post at any time!! :-) For the new listmembers, the following updates can be found at http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/ Kentuckiana Genealogy Now for the updates: We are now being sponsored....please visit our sponsors often! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New census information on the Humphrey surname in Meade Co., KY ********************************* New Kentuckiana Konnections links! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Many queries added!! ********************************* A few Military Queries added ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Many births added-Crawford, Hardin, Jefferson (IN) ********************************* Famous People Section added......if you would like to write a small descriptive piece on one of the individuals I have listed please feel free and send it to me! I want this section to have more to it, but don't personally have the time to write it all right now! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some obituaries in Jefferson Co., KY ********************************* Jefferson Co., KY death added ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks to everyone who takes the time to send in additions for Kentuckiana!! They are all very appreciated and the site couldn't be growing as fast as it is without your help!! You may notice the new sponsor banners. I've always said that I'm not out to make money with my Kentuckiana Site, so I feel I should explain....I've decided to offer advertising and have signed up with an advertising broker. Since Kentuckiana is a lower hit site than some of the major genealogy sites, we won't make as much. All the money I make from sponsor banners will be used to buy old books, bibles or whatever I can find at auctions, yard sales, etc...that has to do with Kentuckiana Genealogy. Everytime I see an auction in the paper I wonder what they may have that could help someone on this list.....and I always wished I had the money to go.....well, I'm trying! Also...some of you may know that I make Genealogy web pages. I'm offering an extreme discount to anyone on the Kentuckiana list. If you're interested e-mail me. Any money from that will be used the same as the sponsor money. Thanks everyone! This is the greatest group of people!! Only one lion?????? Gee the Detroit Metro area has several and not in the zoos. those are all present and accounted for. 1. The Lyger-a lion tiger hybred that has be roaming around the Sterling Heights area of Macomb County. 2. The big black cat that appears every so often around Milford. 3. The other big black cat that someone video taped this spring near the woods by their place. The black bear who they thought was an escaped pet has headed back north. They now think he was wild and just wandered too far south. Probably decided that there was just too many people the closer he came to Detroit. Toni G.

Am researching the history of Catherine Gray, daughter of Thomas Ellis Gray (he went by Ellis) and Sarah Frakes. Catherine was born April 5th, 1810(maybe) or 1825(maybe) in English, HARRISON COUNTY, INDIANA. December 31, 1840 she married William Richerson/Richardson, and had two children, Delana (b. abt. 1845), in HARRISON COUNTY, INDIANA and William (b. abt. 1847), possibly in Illinois. Do not know what happened to father Richerson/Richardson. In June, 1853, in CRAWFORD COUNTY, INDIANA she married James McGuire, they had Susanna (b.1855), Thomas A.(b.1858), John S. (b.1860) and James F.(b. 1862). Father McGuire was killed at Chicamauga in 1863. Sometime later, she married Thomas Haycock, presumably in Indiana, but don't know for sure. She died in California in 1918, at over 100 years old. I certainly hope someone can help me fill in the blanks on my grgrgrandmother and her children! Thanks in advance. Jacob Smelser resided in Hart county, KY in 1820. He moved to Crawford co, IN before 1830. His children were Jacob Smelser, Isaiah Smelser, Younger Smelser, and possibly David Smelser. There were many others. He would have been between 60 and 70 years old in 1830 and maybe died in Crawford co or Harrison co, IN. I am looking for any information on this family, in particular a will or probate record. Any help appreciated. Sincerely, Brenda Smelser Hay
Winters/Arney Families The Winters and Arney Families settled in Indiana around the birth years of 1805 to 1808. Thomas Winters was born in Ohio as well as his future wife Elizabeth Arney. I have been lookin for burial or land records for either one. Names to look for William Winters Sylvester Winters Jacob Arney Nancy TRuett or other Truett Names Paris Winters Even if you have these surnames, but are not sure if they are related let me know. Other hints to possible connection are that many of the Winters were Lutheran ministers. They were German and communicated as such in home until at least the mid 1800s TYSM for your time Sherry Grayson
