Dear researchers, I am attempting to locate a cemetery in Louisville. The handwritten name on the 1912 death certificate (of my GG grandmother Nancy Troxell) is not fully legible. It reads: Schardin[d] Cem. Not quite sure of the last couple of letter of the name. I did an internet search of Louisville cemeteries and nothing near this name was listed. The funeral home that made the arrangements was Schoppenhorst Bros., 1822 W. Mkt (they are still in bussiness as Schoppenhorst & Underwood, 1832 W. Mkt). Can you help me locate this cemetery? IN. In Vokel L. M. "An Index to the 1820 Federal Census of Kentucky" Vol 1 1974, searching for that name or its variants in Brecknridge Co. KY turns up nothing. Family Bible records insist KELLEMS was born there and migrated to IN. White, V. D. "Index to War of 1812 Pension Files Vol. II: J - Z" pg. 1111, lists the possible surnames for Charles KELLEMS to include KELLAMS or KELMS. Vokel (op. cit.) lists three KELMS in Breckinridge Co. KY: Hiram, Jinsey, and Wm. (William). They were all on the same census page, so they were at least neighbors. The census lists Hiram KELMS as 16-26 years old and living with two females, one less than 10 and one the 16-26. Wm KELMS was also 16-26 with two younger males, one under 10 and on under 16 and one female less than 26. Neither Hiram nor Wm listed slaves. Jinsey listed one slave less than 26. The rest of that family was: 1 male less than 10, 1 male less than 16, 1 male 16-18, 1 Male 16-26, 3 females less than 10, 1 female less than 26 and one female less than 45. Hello, I was wanting info on Washington Co. settlers? Where they came from? How did Washington Co. get it's name, beside George Washington. Could it be Washington Co. VA? My folks came to Washington Co. by way of Pulaski Co. Ky. Before that they were in Washington CO VA. They purchased land in each place. Davault and Andrew Keller were brothers. They had a sister Sarah who married Daniel Zink in Washington Co. In I guess they never moved out of Washington Co. I was wondering where they were buried. Also another set of grandparents Peter and Juliana Hubbard from VA, they too died in Washington Co. Would there be an Andrew Keller buried in Washington Co. ? Born in Germany maybe somewhere in the range of 1720. I am not sure, he had a son born in 1749 I am just guessing. I've been bearing down for weeks now on the near-final stages of the Stony Point Christian Church (Clark Co., IN) Bicentennial History (1798-1998). One of the most prominent families in the early history of this church (the first Protestant church in the state) was the McCOYs. My question is: "Does anyone know WHERE in Louisville, KY Isaac McCoy is buried?" One of the most well-known members of this family was Isaac McCoy, born 6/13/1784 in Uniontown, PA. At age 6, his family moved to KY. He married Christiana Polk in 1803. They had 14 children, but 4 died in infancy or early childhood and only 3 remained alive at the time of Isaac's death in 1846. On July 11, 1807, the Silver Creek Baptist Church granted Isaac McCoy "license to exercise his gifts in the bounds of the church". He was only 23 years old and his "gifts" were still uncertain. Apparently his gifts were considerable as on August 13, 1808, the Church at Silver Creek granted him "license to preach the gospel wherever God in His providence might cast his lot." In 1817, Isaac McCoy was sent by the Baptist Board of Foreign Missions in America to the Miami Indians, who were living on the Wabash river, 16 miles above Terre Haute, Indiana. This was his first missionary experience but he was to spend the remainder of his life in this and related fields. McCoy established Carey Mission among the Pottawatomies on the St. Joseph river near present Niles, Michigan in December, 1822. In 1826 he founded Thomas Mission among the Ottawas near present Grand Rapids. For many years McCoy was almost constantly employed by the government in the Indian country, selecting and surveying locations for the immigrant Indians and establishing and maintaining missions and schools. In 1842 he moved to Louisville, Kentucky to direct the American Indian Mission Association, a society which he himself had organized. He continued in this work until his death at Louisville in 1846. The papers of Isaac McCoy were presented to the Kansas State Historical Society on July 9, 1879, by John Calvin McCoy, a son who accompanied the missionary on his early explorations and assisted in the survey of the proposed Indian lands. The collection, numbering more than 2,500 items, was bound in 38 volumes shortly after it was deposited with the Society. The Isaac McCoy papers are the property of the Kansas State Historical Society. Brief quotations are authorized without restriction. The microfilm of the Isaac McCoy papers may be used in the Research Room of the Kansas State Historical Society, borrowed through interlibrary loan, or purchased. Hello Mrs.. Saunders: I'm not sure this will help, but here goes. I am tracking Wrights through KY into TN and I found a James Bingham Murray born April 21st, 1805, in Edinburgh,Scotland. He married a Mary Strade(r?) October 3rd, 183(4?) in Brandenburg KY by a Rev (T?) L. Helm. The question marks come from not being able to read difficult, handwritten records from a Wright family Bible. There are others mentioned like Mary Murray born August 8th, 1821 in Green County KY, Eliza Ann Murray (a "consant" of JBM) born November 27th, 1814. It says Mary died July 25th, 1841 "Age nineteen years, eleven months, and fourteen days". However, I don't think the "math" is there to support it! Ha! Maybe it is, it's late and I'm tired! lol! I do not know where JB Murray is buried, I would like to know if you come across any other information. It may be in Somerville, in Fayette County, TN?
