    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Re: Bullitt C. lookups
    2. Here are my people from Bullitt County. I would guess that most would show up in the earliest records 1810 or 1820 census, 1810 tax list, and/or the marriages: Thomas TAYLOR b. 13 Mar 1799 (1850 IN census says in KY; family letter says WV; if in KY, it was probably Bullitt C.) He was married in 1836 in Perry C. IN to: Matilda SUMNER b. 13 Nov 1813 Bullitt C. They are both buried in Perry C. IN (John) Daniel TAYLOR b. ca, 1768-1770 where unknown. Father of Thomas. Does he show up later in Bullitt C.? Have notes from 1960s saying he moved from WV to Bullitt C. in 1799 then to Rome, Perry C. IN in 1814. Went by Daniel. His wife is Nancy BLACK (anything on her?). William SUMNER m. ca 1810 in KY to Matilda CAMPBELL (Matilda Sumner's parents). Also have notes that their daughter Matilda's death certificate has John, William's brother, as her father. Dempsey SUMNER (Jr. or II) b. 1738 Nansemond C. VA (William's father) disappears after the Revolutionary War. Nothing on spouse. Does he show up in any Bullitt C. list? His father also named Dempsey SUMNER Thanks for your help. Cindy

    3. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN I sent the following message and when I try to bring up the responses "References: 1. 2." I get a message in a box saying something on the order of "That message is not available in that folder and it may have been moved or deleted" . Can somewone tell me what is going on and how to retrieve the responses or the senders response to my e-mail even though that is not what I like to do. I want to share all notes of my family interest to all that may be interested. It is important to figure this out. itis not the first time that this has happened. 2. Philip A. Wagner
    3. In reference to Lois Mauk's posting about the Veteran's Stones stored at Greenwood Cemetery: Mention was also made of the deplorable condition of Eastern Cemetery which was under the same management. The Louisville Genealogical Society has made Xerox copies of the hundreds of pages of records from Eastern Cemetery and is in the slow and tedious process of extracting, indexing, and publishing them. To date three volumes have been completed. I can't estimate how many more volumes will be required nor estimate a completion date. Anyone interested in purchasing one or all of these may contact me for information. Phil Wagner

    3. I am searching for a lady whose maiden name was Nora Ahler. Her father's name was John and she had two sisters; Irene, born about 1931; Allison, born about 1936. Nora was born 1938. Family lived in Bluefield, WV area 1948-51. Do not know where family came from or where they went after Bluefield. Believe John worked for construction company that moved about on large jobs. Name of company may have been "DIBBLE and DIBBLE". Best guess on family roots is NC, KY, IL, SC and WI. There is a slight chance Nora may be a nurse in Raleigh Co., WV. I have looked for years! 2. Bill Caddell
    3. My experience was pre-internet. However, it proves that good things will happen if you are diligent and contact others. One day (after researching for about seven years) I was contacted by a woman who was not of my surname. She said she had heard I was researching the CADDELL family. I informed her that I was. She said she had a Caddell family bible that was her great grandmothers. She agreed to send it to me to make copies of the genealogy section enclosed in the bible. I received it and was completely astounded. I was the family bible of my gr gr grandfather, Andrew Jackson Caddell that died as a prisoner of war in the civil war. Her gr grandmother was the youngest child of Andrew and was born in the cane fields along the Ouachita River, AR while the family was in hiding when the "yankees" came through burning homes and crops. He gr grandmother and descendants had not had any contact with the rest of Andrew's descendants for nearly 100 years. The bible had births, marriages and deaths of all Andrew and his wife Mary's (Burchfield) children and Mary's mother. That "find" eventually opened up my entire genealogy back to the early 1800s in SC with further research back to NC. My part of the family came from NC to SC to AL to AR to TX. Others went from NC directly to the Whitley County, KY area. Bill Caddell Granbury, TX USA

    2. Cheri Dowell
    3. Still searching for info regarding the family of John William Batman (b. abt 1838), usually goes by just William. He married abt 1856 in Louisville to Sarah J (maybe Risinger) and they had at least one child Mary Ellen Batman (b.8-17-1857) William is listed in 1880 census with wife Clara "unknown" and 3 children: Charles (age 7), Maggie (age 3) and Edward (age 9 mo.). Since Sarah Batman did not die until 1922 in Louisville, it is assumed that she and William were divorced prior to 1875. Any info regarding these or any other Batmans in Jefferson Co would be appreciated........cheri ____________________________________________________________________ Get free e-mail and a permanent address at http://www.amexmail.com/?A=1
