Looking for any information on a G. TAYLOR and his wife, Nancy Ann ___. She was b. abt 1779 and d. in 1842, at Schuyler Co., IL. She is buried at Mt. Harmony/Davenport cemetery and on her tombstone, it says Nancy Ann TAYLOR, wife of G. They probably m. abt 1800 and possibly in KY. They had at least two daughters, Elizabeth Ann TAYLOR, b. 1816 in KY, m. 1833 to Daniel JAMES; and Nancy Ann TAYLOR, b. 1818, m. 1834 to Elias HARRIS. The older Nancy signed for both of these daughters to marry in Schuyler Co., IL, so her husband was probably deceased.
I am looking for where in Kentucky these LONGs lived. The years would be early to late 1800's. I do not know what Co. they came from. David - George W Duggins born 1856 was the last ancestor I had born in Harrison County. He was married to Ruth Record in Jasper County IN in 1875. Sorry to say I haven't run across any of the people you mentioned. I have seen several Duggins people in Harrison County from 1810 to 1850 whose lineage I haven't followed into the 1900's. I could go back over my notes if you wish. >From David McMongile Estill - I notice your interest in the surname of "Duggins" with roots in Harrison County, Indiana. Do you have any information on a Hazel Duggins (????) who married a Robert H. McMonigle (1923-1978) and her descendants? Also, do you have anything on Eveline Duggins (????) who married a Pitman Hardsaw? Thanks for any help. David L. McMonigle

I have had a number of inquiries about the Eastern Cemetery books as well as related subjects including the Schardein cemetery. First, so far as I have been able to determine, there are no records from the Schardine cemetery in existence today. If there are I don't know where they might be. Second, our project includes only Eastern Cemetery. We have no records from Greenwood Cemetery even though they were originally under the same church management. They may be available somewhere but LGS does not have access to them nor do we know of their whereabouts. We have published three books of Eastern Cemetery records to date. These contain only the name of the deceased, th date of burial, and the location of the burial plot. They also show if the corpse was moved to another location for reburial. If there were any other notes appended to a record these are also included. We estimate that there will be at least five more volumes published eventually. Volume 1 contains deaths from three periods: 1843-1851, 1844-1847, and 1854-1865. It contains approximately 3,000 names. Volume 2 contains deaths from 1854-1865 and contains approximately 2,500 names. Volume 3 contains deaths from 1874-1883 and contains approximately 10,000 names. Each volume is indexed separately. There is no amster index. I know it may seem odd that there seems to be so much skipping around in the range of death dates but, trust me, if you saw the state of the decaying papers and the archaic system under which they were accumulated, you would understand. The cost of each Volume is $35.00 + $2.00 shipping and $2.10 sales tax for Kentucky residents. Make checks payable to Louisville Genealogical Society and mail to me at: 2000 Ashwood Bluff Court Louisville, KY 40207-1290 Phil Wagner
Hi, I have another problem that I need help with. I'am trying to find out if this could be the same person. Here goes it. This is the info I have on Lewis SOUDER & Mary E. Lewis SOUDER [b] 15 Jan 1862/63 [m] Mary E. [b] 15 Dec 1866/67 I found this family on the 1900 Pendleton CO,Ky census listed with 8 children. I found a Lewis SOUDER with his family on the 1880 Pendleton CO,Ky and his parents are listed as, Joseph SOUDER & Mary E . I have a death certifiacte of one child Viola and her husband [ James Daniel NORTH ] has her father as Lewis SOUDER & mother as Elizabeth RIEDENOW I know This is the right death certificate this is my gr. grandmother. Viola's mother is Mary Elizabeth. ***This is what I have on Lewis HALEY & Mary . This is information sent to me by cousin. I have a death certificate for Lewis HALEY [b] 15 Jan 1862 [d] 7 Sept 1925 Covington , Kenton Co,Ky. A death certificate for Mary HALEY [b] 15 Dec 1867 [d] 6 Dec 1923 Covington, Kenton Co,Ky [ I know this is my gr. gr. grandmother her father and mother are the right names ] Lewis HALEY on death certificate has parents listed as Joseph HALEY & Mary PORTER. My cousin has children for the HALEY family listed as 6 . I have the SOUDER family with 8 children. These children that are the same [ in both families ] have the same data as birth. **So I have .** Lewis SOUDER & Lewis HALEY both [b] 15 Jan 1862/63 Both with parents [ Joseph SOUDER & Mary E ] & Joseph HALEY & Mary PORTER ] **Six out of eight childrern in the families are the same with the same data. I haven't found Lewis HALEY & Mary as a family on any records, all I have is what my cousin sent me. I have found Lewis SOUDER & Mary E. on the 1900 Pendleton CO,Ky with eight chlidren. Could Lewis SOUDER & Lewis HALEY be the same MAN. What I can't understand is why a Lewis SOUDER would change his name to Lewis HALEY after 1900 . I'am thinking of the census record [ 1880 & 1900 ] I haven't ben able to find the SOUDER family since 1900 [ Lewis & Mary with children ] If you have any information that might clear this problem up for me, I would like to hear from you. Or if you have any other thoughts that might help me, I would also like to hear from you. Thank You so very much. Karen
The Bicentennial History of the first Protestant church established in the State of Indiana is going to press next week. Just some last minute proofreading and editing left to do. Silver Creek Baptist Church was organized on November 22, 1798 near Charlestown in Clark County (across the river from Louisville, KY). In 1829, the congregation chose to abandon the Baptist Articles of Faith and became an independent church, the name eventually changing in the 1880s to Stony Point Christian Church. It was at one time considered "the mother church" of Baptist congregations throughout Southern Indiana and was the leading congregation of the now-defunct Silver Creek Baptist Association. The book is presently 116 pages and covers the 200-year history of the church, 5 picture pages, several extensive biographies and more than 50 pages of abstracted church records, indexed by surname. The surname index alone is 6 pages long. The church records have never been published before and provide a treasure trove of genealogical and local history information for a geographic area that offers little in the way of public records for the first half of the 1800s. If you've got ancestors who were in Clark County very early in the 1800s, there is an excellent chance the surname is mentioned in this book. Lots of references to So-and-So being received as a member of the Church; many references to So-and-So, formerly Such-and-Such; numerous "obituaries" indicating Members' death dates. There are NO marriage records included in the original records. (I've posted the current Surname Index to a webpage linkable from the URL below.) If you'd like to order a copy of the book (purchase price $20), there is an Order Form at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/OrderForm.html The proceeds from the sale of the book will exclusively benefit the Stony Point Building Fund as we undertake the construction of a Fellowship Hall adjacent to the meeting house, built in 1858. PLEASE don't ask me to do look-ups right now. I am really under the gun at the moment with last-minute proofing and editing the book, getting ready for publication and getting ready for our big Bicentennial Celebration on November 22. Perhaps I can help you after Thanksgiving. BTW, if you live in the area, you are cordially invited to join us on Sunday afternoon, November 22, at 3 PM for a special Bicentennial program, gospel concert and reception. A map and more details are available at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/BicentennialNewsRelea se.html Thank you. Lois Mauk
