    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] ROUTT/WESTFALL/HOCKMAN
    2. I am new to this list and new to Indiana research! I have a John HOCKMAN living in the Crawford Co., IN area 1820; then 1830-1840 he is in Lawrence Co., IL area. He is "gone" by 1850 and only a prospective wife, Nancy, is in the area with children. Their daughter Julia/Judith m. George W. ROUTT. I also found a reference in Harrison Co., IN of John HOCKMAN m. Nancy WESTFALL in 1819. Is this "my" family? Are there any other WESTFALL or HOCKMAN researchers out there? I have corresponded with several online Westfall folks, but Nancy and her brothers seem to be a toughy. Thanks for any help/insite. Jane Routt Power

It seems that I cannot find the Waldrews surname anywhere in the world except in this area. i have found references to the name Waldrew in Clinton Co., IN and in Canada but cannot tie them to this family. It appears that they just sprung up out of no where. Thank you Robert Cooper Robert W Cooper

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Bradley Turner Rafferty
    2. Hello, just got on this list and am hoping to contribute to, or receive informations from other users. My grandfather, Dr. B.T. Rafferty b. 1851 Indiana, d. 1932 Louisville, Ky was son on Henry Rafferty of Washington and Harrison counties in Indiana and married to Mary Hancock at the time of Birth of Bradley Turner. He was only living child. Henry died in 1865 and is buried at Hancock Chapel in Harrison county. Arvil Hancock has been very helpful in providing information. Henry was born in 1817 in England or Ireland and came to USA abouts 1832 with younger brother William. Became US citizen 1842 and worked as farmer and mason. We would like information on how they came to come to Indiana, with sponsor, relative, etc and from what situation in England, etc. We are also interested in how Bradley Turner lived and why he got to Cloverport, where he got a degree in medicine in 1879. Thanks for anyone's help. Dave Rafferty

    2. Clara Kress
    3. Sherri and Cindy, I'll ask around tomorrow and see where (if) copies are still available. I believe Mosby's book is out of print. The librarian at the Tell City Public Library should know if they are still available. I have "History of Perry County" by Thomas James de la HUNT and "History of Warrick, Spencer & Perry Counties, IN" published by Goodspeed in 1885. I would be glad to look something up in the meantime if you'd like. 2. I am planning to get these interlibrary loan but would also like to know if they are available for purchase. Be forwarned, a lot of errors in De la Hunt according to at least two researchers who have used it--but it is still worth consulting. Cindy

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Silver Creek/Stony Point Bicentennial History
    2. Lois Mauk
    3. Excellent news! The Bicentennial History of Silver Creek Baptist Church (now known as Stony Point Christian Church) just went to the printer! The first batch of copies will be picked up tonight and for those of you who have already placed orders, your copy will go out by Priority Mail early next week. Silver Creek was the first Protestant church in what became the state of Indiana, chartered in Clark County in 1798. The commemorative history is 118+ pages and includes over 100 years of abstracted church records, previously unpublished, indexed by surname. The index alone is six pages long. If you'd like more information, visit: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/BicentennialNewsRelea se.html Thanks to all of you for your help and encouragement. I've pretty much devoted myself to this project 6 to 8 hours for the last three months (in addition to working 40-45 hours a week) and, after the big Bicentennial Celebration next Sunday, I plan on getting some sleep! :-) Lois

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Happy Veterans Day
    2. Dee
    3. Hello everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to say Happy Veterans day to all of the veterans on this list. You are all very appreciated for your hard work and service to our country. There are a few men I am most proud of for their service. No...it's not a famous general from WWI, or a famous man from the Civil War. They are my Dad; Sgt. David L. Floyd (Vietnam) who served in the heat of battle and made sure weapons and ammunition got to the front lines where it was needed and who was wounded in action, My grandpas; Pvt. 1st Class Joseph Victor Cooper (WWII), who received a Bronze Star for his heroic actions against the enemy, and who passed away when I was only 4, and Private 1st Class Ulysis Lamar Floyd (WWII) who, after serving his country as a medic, came home and raised his four children by himself. There are many others in my lines......Pvt. Alexander Gilmore (Rev. War), Capt. John Pipes (Rev. War) to name only two. To all of you who have served our country proud, and fought for the freedom we all enjoy today.....Thank you!!
