    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Carr research
    2. James Carr
    3. Help! I have a lot of questions and need advice as to whom I should write, and what is available to research for answeres. In the 1840 census for Franklin county, There was W. P. (William P.)Carr b. 1808 east VA Wife Nancy (Mayhall) Carr b 1818 in Ky one son under 5 yrs ( James William Carr) two daughters under 5 (Sarah A Carr) and possibly (Martha Carr('9 yrs in 1850') or a daughter that perished. By 1850 there was added also Nancy 4 yrs and Lewis 2 yrs. By 1860 Sarah at 24 yrs is gone possibly married and added are Emily 14 yrs., and Lewis at 12yrs., is missing possibly perished. About 1852 the family moved to Pike cty ILL and after the war to Hancock cty Ill where they remained. In the 1830 census index there are two other Carr families in Franklin county, Larken Carr, Reuben Carr. Could one of them be William p.'s father? His grandson was called Louis Larken Carr. Were they from Virginia also? if so what part? About Nancy's parents were they Mayhall's? W. P. and Nancy were probably married ca 1834-35 Thank ou in advance for your help, Jim Carr hamkarr@hctc.com http://www.hctc.com/~hamkarr/index.htm

We've also been unsuccessful in finding the correct spelling of Anna's surname. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Patsy

    3. Hello, fellow researchers. If you were able to attend the Genealogy Fair in New Albany, Indiana, sponsored by the Southern Indiana Genealogical Society, I would like to know what you thought of it. We have a board meeting Thursday night and I thought it would give us a good idea of how to prepare for next year's fair. Just, for example, did it meet your expectations, did you benifit from it, did you enjoy handouts, vendors, could anything be changed to make it better or more accessible, etc. We thought it went really good, but are always ready and willing to improve. Thanks for attending and would appreciate any comments. Sue P. 3. Researching my grandparents and their parents and grandparents: My grandmother : Clara Frances Greenawalt, born June 24, 1876 probably in Hardin or Grayson Co., Kentucky. My grandfather: Claude Thurman Rogers , born Jan. 23, 1876 probably in Grayson Co., Kentucky. They were married Sept. 24, 1894 in Grayson or Hardin County, Ky. Clara Frances had a sister we believe named "Edith" who later had married and migrated to California. The Greenawalts and Rogers are listed on the 1850 Census, but I do not know to whom my grandparents belonged as I do not know the name of their parents. It may be that Clara descended from Lewis Greenawalt, but cannot find the connection. Claude Rogers had several brothers , one known as "Bill" (William?) and possibly a sister named "Georgia", both of these later moving to Oklahoma. Claude and Clara lived in Kentucky for several years, moved to Texas for a short while, moved back to Kentucky and then to Oklahoma, once in 1910 and again permanently about 1914-15.They moved to Greer County, Oklahoma where they lived until their deaths. Would appreciate any connection anyone can give me. Have researc

    3. I talked to a man from the Tell City Historical Society about "Perry County History" by de la Hunt and "History of Warrick, Spencer, and Perry Counties" published by Goodspeed Bros. Neither are available here at this time. They occasionally have requests for these books, but not in the quantity to justify another reprinting. "Living History of Perry County" by Mosby has been out of print for quite some time. Clara > > Thanks to all of you that responded to my quest for books. 1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Found Books
    2. Tom and Sherri Hessick
    3. Thanks to all of you that responded to my quest for books. Several of you asked that I let you know where I found them. I never did find "Living History of Perry County" by Mosby, but I found the other two ("History of Perry County" by de la Hunt and "History of Warrick, Spencer, and Perry Counties" published by Goodspeed Bros.) at a Higgins Books. Their website is at http://www.higginsonbooks.com/detoia.htm . The cost for de la Hunt's book is $43 and for the Goodspeed book $86. I had not previously seen the Higgins Books website. It is a wonderful resource. Thank you to those that told me of it. Sherri Hessick Tucson, AZ thessick@flash.net

    2. Walsh
    3. Hi - I'm researching the BUTLER family who moved from VA to KY around 1805. John Landon BUTLER and his wife Mary Ann JONES lived first in Logan Co. and then in Christian Co until the family moved to MS in 1819. Their children included William BUTLER (b.1786 - my ancestor), Ruth (b.1790), Suzannah (b.1792), Frances (b.1793), Elizabeth (b.1798), Landon Carter (b.1800), Margaret (b.1802) and two other children born in MS (Burnell & Martha). If anyone is also researching this line please contact me, I have lots to share. -Maryanne walshrobert@msn.com

    2. Marianne J Montgomery
    3. Hi Everybody, I like to help when I have a county to go on. I know we all forget, (I do sometimes) to put in the county name when I place a query now and then, so let's all try to remember to add that little item? Does anyone have the line of JOHN HUFF of Hardin and Breckinridge Cos. KY?? He was born in 1773, and at the age of 17 he married Martha TATMAN in Nelson Co., KY He moved to Perry County, IN , and in 1816 he voted there. They were the parents of William HUFF, b. 1794 KY, In Perry County in the 1830's, he became a Justice of the Peace, William married Hannah LAGRANGE. in 1813. They were the parents of Jonathan HUFF, who in 1839 married Louisa VANDIVER in Perry County, IN. Anyone know anything to add to or to question the above account of this family? I'd like to hear from you. Marianne Montgomery monty4@juno.com ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
