    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] McGuire Family/Indiana
    2. Am interested in furthering my research on the family of: James McGuire and spouse Catherine Gray, who were married in Crawford County, Indiana on June 2, 1853. I do not have info on his parents; her parents were Thomas Ellis Gray and Sarah Frakes. Catherine was previously married to William Richardson/Richeson of the area, before her marriage to J. McGuire. After McGuire's death at Chickamauga, she married Thomas Haycock of the same area. (Either Crawford or Harrison County, Indiana). The McGuire children: Susanna McGuire, born 1855; Thomas McGuire born 1857; John S. McGuire born 1860; and James F. McGuire born 1862. I have very little information about the McGuire children and would like to further "their" story. Thanks... Mary Ann Ashworth Pasadena, California

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] FREEMAN's in Louisville , KY
    2. Mr & Mrs Kenneth Freeman
    3. Glad to have new subscribers, maybe someone can help me with my FREEMAN'S. In the 1860 census of Louisville Ky, we found JOB FREEMAN (49) and REBECCA(42) John (21) Mary(18) James (16) Zachary (14) Elvira(9) Cornelia (6) & Walter (2).We are trying to find any information about the family to determine if the James Freeman (16) is indeed the same as the James Freeman in the 1880 Lavaca Cty Tx census as a schoolteacher, boarder, widower, fever, age 32 born in KY. James Freeman married Fannie Gandy in 1882 and had a daughter Olia in dec.1884. James Freeman married Anna Einkauf in 1887 and had a son LIBY Edmund 1891 (this is my husband's father) and a daughter Letha M. on Jan. 22, 1894 the date of James death in Lavaca Cty Tx. James is buried in Providence Cemetary in Halletsville Tx. All replies appreciated. The names of the youngest children are familiar to a couple of the oldest members of the family. Thank you so much. 2. Hi, I am new to the list. My name is Bessie Dutton-Dowell Hudgins. I was born and raised in Tell City, In. I moved to Ga. when I was about 15. I had no idea at the time I would be so interested in genealogy or I would have found out more from the older ones. <G> Now they are mostly gone or don't remember the things I need. I am looking for any info on the Albert Turner family. He was my G- grandfather and was married to Josephine Hemphill. They had 3 children, John B. (My grandfather), Leslie (who lives in Lewisport, KY) and Maggie (deceased). John married Jewell Izetta Green (my grandmother) and they had 3 children. Bessie Irine (my mother), Lela Maxine, and Ollia Mae. He also had another daughter by his first wife and her name is Josephine. She is named Turner and married a Turner from a different set of Turners. I know that for my 15 years in Perry County, In. most of my relatives lived in Perry County, In. and Hancock Co., Ky. I would love to connect with someone that may have information on my family. Thanks, Bessie

    2. The Prouty's
    3. Can someone suggest how to discover the names of parents in early KY? I have a William H Hawkins that was b. in KY, Mar 27, 1791, married Letitia Van Meter Chenoweth 20 Jan, 1814 in Nelson Co. and d. 8 Aug 1851 in Hardin Co. He is in Hardin Co. Tax lists and censuses. Not sure if he moved from Nelson Co to Hardin or if the county changed from reading the current posts. Lots of available info on the wife's ancestors, but I'm stuck on finding William Hawkins parents, siblings etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! P.S. Thanks for the history, please feel free to post to the list any excerpts from early history's, diaries etc. Another list I used to belong to does that and I found it fascinating and informative ! A fellow researcher provided me with the marriage bond information on my gggg-grandparents Greenberry GRIFFIN and Nancy STONE in Nelson Co., KY, in 1805 from a book entitled: Marriage, Bond & Consent Book of Nelson County 1801-1816, Compiled by Lillian Ockerman Distributed by: The Nelson County Genealogical Society P.O. Box 409 Bardstown, Ky 40004 (no publishing date given) You might give this a try. Also, have you found the Nelson Co. Rootsweb mail list (KYNELSON-L)? I found this same Greenberry on an FTM CD that indicates he is listed in the 1800 Nelson Co. KY tax list. I have yet to track this tax list down but you might search for things like this (free name searches at the FTM Web site and many volunteers will do look ups from these CDs). Let me know if you need further info on how to do this. Good luck! Regards, Terri McDonald Hauk motfot@tdl.com
