    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Woirhaye/Hancock
    2. I am trying to find a little information about my ggggrandfather's life in Franklin Co., Kentucky. Francis Woirhaye married Nancy Hancock in Orange co., Virginia They had William F. and Margaret in Virginia. They moved to Franklin co., Kentucky in time for the 1830 Census. Their two youngest children Elizabeth Ann (Lizzie) and Francis Clifford are not listed in any census's. Does anyone know where I can look. I am need of finding the article about lizzie's death. We know she died in a Christmas fire in 1840. But they do not start the death records until 1845, so I am stuck in this area. We lost Francis after 1860 he was an old man at this time at an age of 65 from France. Through our family grapevine he lived to an old age of at least 90. But we cannot find where he went. Can anyone help me? I live too far from Kentucky and am not able to travel there. If anyone knows of an reseacher who can help me please send me their information. Thank you Jeanne Woirhaye Also researching Quigg, Tracey, Buttiner, Buttman, Satterwhite, Jenkins. Jeanne

    3. The article which Keith Kurtz refers to is a wonderful article. It underlines what I have always thought and said. The info you are receiving is: ONLY AS GOOD AS THE RESEARCHER AND THEIR RESEARCH HABITS. All too often persons use info found or sent to them and claim it as fact, without actually checking it out before entering into their files. Down the line, someone else does the same thing and eventually the "real" facts are buried. So when someone sends you data or you find it on the net, remember, not everyone may be as careful or conscientious as you are in your sources, they may be just "grabbers", by that I mean "grabbing anything they find" without verifying it before placing it "out there" as fact. 3. I am also having difficulty finding parents for a Mundell. My gggrandmother was Sarah Mundell (Mundel). She was born May 9, 1792 and died in 1864 in Floyd Co., IN. She married James Akers November 11, 1808 and had at least 8 children. I have been unable to find any details of her ancestors but have a fairly complete list of her descendants to share. Contact me if you have a match with any of this. Thanks Arlen. [email protected] wrote: > Both Franz F. Mundel and Anna M. Englehard Mundel died in Perry County IN in > 1873. 2. Carole Hada
    3. I am at a dead end on John Maples and Fidelia Wright and I have been unable to gather any data on Lillie May Perry’s parents. I’ve searched census’ to no avail. If anyone has knowledge or ideas, please share. I am hoping to find someone with a connection to the following families. I have additional dates and marriages for the following if anyone is interested. Thank you. Carole John Maples (born in TN) married Fidelia Wright (born in IN) on 7/1/1847 This was gathered from the following census’ so may not be reliable. The 1860 census has her name as Cordelia and on the 1870 it looks like Fadelia but it should be Fidelia. 1860 Census of Hardin Co. KY states: John Maples age 36 farmer born in TN Cordelia (Wright) age 36 born in IN Thomas C. (Chellam) age 12 born in KY Marietta age10 born in KY (Marietta was my gggrandmother) Sarah C (Catherine) age 9 born in KY Phoebe J (Jane) age 7 born in KY Andrew J. (Jackson) age 3 born in KY Francis E. (Elizabeth) age 4/12 born in KY 1870 Census of Hardin Co. KY states: John Maples age 48 farmer born in TN Fadelia (Wright) age 48 born in IN Thomas C. (Elizabeth) age10 born in KY Rose E. age 8 born in KY James W. (Wilson) age 5 born in KY Marietta Maples married Jacob P. Peterson 9/8/1870 All but one of the following children were born in IN so I am assuming that they lived in IN. John J. H. Ann Peterson Charles H. Thomas Andrew Jackson Hayes May Jesse Oliver Perry Morton William Tecumseh Sherman (my great grandfather) Emily Catherine Martha Elizabeth (Mattie) Emeline Peterson Lillie Belle H. George H. Wm. Tecumseh Sherman Peterson married Lillie May Perry January 19, 1898. These are my great grandparents. Lillie May Perry may have come from Breckenridge, Breathitt or Perry Co. KY. She was born May 1, 1978. She and her sisters were placed in an orphanage by their father, shortly after the death of their mother. Her fathers name may have been Harvey Perry and her mothers name was Elvea. Not sure if Elvea was a first name or a sur name.

    3. PS: the grave..........check with whoever is in charge of the cemetery....they will have charts of family plots...who purchased them...who is buried there.....family plots were usually plots for 6.......smaller than what is required today because of the required liners..........normally buried left to right in sequence of death......also check with the local funeral home.....they also have records of plots, etc.........just recently found 3 of my missing folks........they were under foot all the time!!!

Goodwin, Oakland City, residence....as of muster date of 3-8-1864 as Corporal, 120th In Infantry Regiment, Co. D.....mustered out 1-8-1868........quite late....may have been hospitalized......did not state where he mustered out....would advise sending for war record papers.....and possibility of pension, which are a goldmine of info.... 1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] GOODWIN of IN and KY (& IL?)
    2. Dave Carmine
    3. I am searching for information on my g-g-grandfather: William Jarrett GOODWIN b Sept. 6, 1834 IN, d 1881 KY married Rachel Taylor SHORT (daughter of Buriah and Nancy (STINSON) SHORT) on April 11, 1858 in Vanderburgh Co. IN. Rachel died 1901 is buried in Short Family Plot, Locust Hills Cemetery, Vanderburgh County, Indiana and it's Presumed that William is next to her as the grave is not marked. What we know: In 1860, William and family were in Gibson Co., Indiana. William and family, Rachel - wife, Sarah & Nancy (twins- born 1859) were listed on the 1860 Johnson Twp., Gibson County, Indiana Census. I have not found him in 1870 yet. Someone checked the census index for me and they do not show in Indiana in 1870. I went page by page thru the 1870 Gibson Co. Indiana Census - not there. Where was he in 1870 - I sure don't know at this point. 1880 Census Henderson County, KY (E.D. 45, Sheet 10, Line 34) William was listed with his wife and the following children: Nancy age 20 born Indiana Jarrett age 14 born Indiana Franklin age 10 born Indiana Clarah age 13 born Indiana Gracy age 11 born Indiana Charles age 8 born Indiana Levi age 4 born Kentucky (William H. wasn't born till 1881) It further stated William's father was born in Illinois and mother, New York. By the birth of their children, it looks like they arrived in KY after the birth of Charles and before Levi , ca 1872 - 1876. I found a marriage between Jarrett Goodwin and Sarah Wilkerson in Dec. 5, 1833, Vanderburgh Co., IN, however, I have not yet found a direct connection between them and my William. If anyone knows any of these people, I would love to hear from you. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Are there any GOODWIN cousins out there? Thanks.

He died in the year 1801, so the year 2001 marks the 200th anniversary of his death. His descendents have been found in numerous KY counties and throughout the United States. A few relatives got together and decided that after 200 years, it is time for his descendents to get together to share family lines, family stories, family pictures, and have a geneologically grand time. We have spent months tracking down as many Molohons and their addresses as possible. If you know of some, please do not assume that we know about them. Isaac Riley Kellems was the only brother of my Greatgrandfather Charles L. Kellems. I hopr this is of some help and interest to you. Ron Kellems

    2. Dean Martin Rees NEWMAN
    3. Millennium greetings from the "Land Down Under" (Lat 17.5s Long 146.4e) Hi Gale & Listers, Were there any later events to attract settlers to the Louisville area? I have it that my wife's grand uncle came from Kent, England to settle near Fairfield outside of Louisville in about 1885. But so far I have not been able to add detail to this fact. His name was: Lewis (Louis) BARROW, b. Kent, England 1863 d. Hardscrabble 1926 (typhoid). Buried Evergreen cemetery. Emigrated to USA about 1885. m. Laura BOOTH 1891 Employed at County Farm 1885-1892 Purchased own farm 1892 (ex John Williams). Fairfield is about 30 miles south-east of Louisville and Hardscrabble was (in 1926) apparently about 4 1/2 miles north-west of Fairfield. "Seven years at the County farm" has that nasty English penal ring about it. Was there any transportation of felons to the area at that time? Don't be shy - tell me if you know! And may you and yours enjoy good health and happiness throughout 2001. Dean Newman, North Queensland Australia.
