Hi, my name is Kathy, and I'm new to this list. I'm researching my husband's lineage in Kentucky. His great-grandparents were Thomas H. and Nannie Faulconer. Thomas H. was born in Fayette Co. KY, married Nannie and raised his family there. By 1900, Nannie was a widow and was living in Louisville, KY with her children. One of their sons, Raymond Byrum Faulconer, is my husband's grandfather. He changed the spelling of the family's surname from Faulconer to Faulkner between 1917 and 1920. I'm attempting to trace Thomas H. and Nannie's lineage back prior to 1860 in an attempt to learn who their parents and siblings were. Any information on this family line would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kathy
Sandi they didn't do the full application until about 1900, depending on the county, I've looked for other people, Now when Grandma got married it was a nice application and show all the information you would need, I found that my great grandfather had been born in Scioto Ohio, ant he was born during the civil was and the records where not taken at that time, so that was a surprise for me. Sometimes the counties were doing this in the late 1800's, but some counties did not do them until later. As you know that is what I do to help out people who can't do the personal research here in Indiana, I have to that are from Australia that ask for the copies, and they send me the money to get them to them, If you could get them they are some times $4-$10.00 a record. I can get them, and charge only $2.00- $4.00 depending on how hard they are to find. Sometimes I have to look at a couple rolls of microfilm before I can find the records they need, but the later ones are the application type. The early ones are like the ones we got when we were married, just a certificate. Does this help you? If you can here to Indpls, I could show you how hard it is sometimes to find them, and then If the dates were wrong, you just hope that they are the same people. Teddy
I have a marriage license for a couple who were residents of Louisville, KY who was married 1886 in Clark Co, IN. There is no personal information at all listed on the license. I also have copies of marriage bonds dated 1901 from Louisville, KY, again with no personal information. I know that marriage bonds were required in KY and IN. I know that some people "eloped" to Clark County from Louisville. If residents of Louisville, KY went to Clark Co, IN in 1886 to marry, would they have had to fill out any papers anywhere? I have had two very nice ladies try to find "supplemental" records for me in IN and they were unsuccessful. Can anyone advise me on where to try to find any additional records in KY and/or IN? Thank you, Sandi

Hi List, I'm sure most of us oldies know this, but some of the newbies may like it for their records. 1.) To find a county in a state and you only know the town; ROOTSWEB.COM Cover page; scroll down on left hand side to RESEARCH TEMPLATE , Click on United States Counties/States Enter name of town and state, click search. It will give you the name or names of the different counties this town or city is in. You can click on any of them and will take you to the home page for that county. 2.) If you just want to find a county, repeat the process as above, but instead of putting in name of town and state, continue to scroll down on the page and click on the state you need. On the left hand side, scroll down. It will give you a list of the counties in that state. You may click on them to find info needed in that county. It takes you to the home page for that county. Hope this helps someone. Jan, in Indiana

Dose anyone have the Menifee County census records for 1850 and up. I also need Marriage records for Menifee County also. I am looking for John A. Phillips. Thank You Tina Vance
Looking for any information on John A. Phillips born around 1867. I do not know were or what state even. I do know that he married twice and had six children between the two marriages. The childrens names were John L. Phillips who married Tina Caudill from Letcher County. Leafy, Berthie, Clara, Ada, and I think that the other one was named George. John A. Phillips lived in Menifee County Ky and married a girl named Rosa Hampton when she was 15 years old. I dont really know when they were married or how old he was when they married but Rosa was his second wife so he had to be quite a bit older. John A. Phillips died in 1939 in Menifee county KY. Please any information on this man or his family would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Tina Vance

I am searching for the family of MARY JANE SPERRY, born 13 Nov 1841 "near Louisville" KY per family Bible entry. Might have a brother named DAN. Married THOMAS WILSON SPEIR, Sep 9 1863, Massac, Illinois. Oral family tradition said she was American Indian, but we have never been able to prove this. If you have an Index to a 1850 KY Federal Census, could you check if you can find her? Thanks in advance.
