Is there another on line 1810 census of Grayson Co. Ky? The one called "Census on line" will not open for me. Jan Searching for SPENCER, FRANK, BLOXAM
I sent this out yesterday but I think I goofed and used the wrong E Mail address. Please excuse if this is a duplication.. Fern Hello list, For some time now I have been searching for the family of my Great Grandmother Ellen M. Mathews, b. November 21,1841 in Lexington, KY. The only information I have been able to find so far is on an 1860 Lexington, KY. Census which lists her as being 18 years old and living with 6 other people; J.D. Mathews age 45 (Father I presume), F.R. Mathews (male) age 24, D. E. Mathews (female) age 29, W.M. Mathews (Male) age 20, Lizzie (female) age 16 and Sally (female) age 10/12. She married Charles Alexander Buford on October 29, 1861 in Lexington, KY. Her husband died in Lexington, Ky. July 22, 1898 but I do not have a date of her death nor where she died. If there is anyone out there who might have any information at all I would love to hear from you. Fern Buford-Walker
Hi Tracey, Thomas Gilleland did have a son Thomas Jr., but I have not researched his children to see which ones lived in Hardin Co.KY and then moved to Washington Co., IN, by 1820. I just had that info about Thomas Gilleland's son John going to Washington Co., IN, and swapping IN and KY land with Thompson Rude in 1823. I need to do more research in Washington Co., IN, records. I am going to subscribe to the Washington Co., IN, mail list on rootsweb in a few minutes so I can start posting queries about the RUDEs and DEREMIAHs who moved there from Hardin Co., KY, 1814-1820. I have other Hardin Co., KY, families who moved across the Ohio River into Harrison Co. before 1820. I believe that Indiana was opening up 1800-1810 and there was a big migration to the new land. Keep in touch and let me know what you find out about your Thomas Gilleland, Jr., who was in Washington Co., IN, in 1825. I'll bet he is the son of Thomas Gilleland of Hardin Co., KY ! -- Helen Graves

Hi all, my name is Brenda Maupin Ballard and I am researching the Maupin, Hall, Worix and a few others. Most of all my family are from the Kentucky area around Ashland, Greenup, Grayson and around them parts. On my fathers side I have my great grandfather who was, George Washington Maupin married to a Emma (Florence) Sanders (or Saunders) born around 1857. They married in 1882 and she remarried to a JW McDaniel in 1889, so I just don't know what happened to George, did he die or did they divorce, just don't know. Some say he was hung by a tree for stealing a horse, but I have not found any documentation on this man. My grandfather was Frank B. Maupin and his wife was Elizabeth Gill. The Hall side is from my mother's family. Her parents were Wylie Worix and Gertrude Hall Worix. Actually they were 1st cousins (which I just found out about this) and his parents were Elizabeth Hall and John Worix. Her parents were Elizabeth Rice and Hiram Augustus Hall. Any family out there? Thanks, Brenda

Hi everyone: I just joined this list and I will be glad to send you my names for roll call. I am searching for LOUIS KIRKLAND supposedly born in 1876 in Louisville Ky. He died in Cincinnatii, Ohio in 1949. I am also looking for his parents . I don't know where they came from or where they died. Their names are ELISABETH MEYER AND JOHN KIRKLAND. I have searched the census, city directories, death notices etc. I don't think I checked the newspaper for that time. I have been to Salt Lake City and to Louisville and Frankfort Ky. looking for these names. I have not found anything at all on these names. I hope someone out there can help me. Thanks in Advance Terri
Does anyone have info on Michael YOTSLER who appears on the 1820 census living in Charles twp., Clark Co., IN? Is he also the Michael YULSTED who appears on the 1830 census? Michael Yotsler married Dorothy HARRIS in Hardin Co., KY, on March 19, 1797. I do not know when they moved to Clark Co., IN. According to an old Temple Ordinance Record filed in 1959 by Roy Andrew Mobley of Menan, Idaho, Michael 'YOTSZER' was born about 1772. Mr. Mobley had no further info on Michael, his wife, or children. Any info on Michael Yotsler, Youtser, Youstler, Yotszer, Yulsted, his wife and children would be appreciated. I did not find him on the 1840 census for Clark Co.; however, if he was born in 1772, perhaps he died in Clark Co. between 1830-1840. -- Helen Graves
STILL LOOKING for David Strabler who lived in Clark County (Jeffersonville, In.) He migrated from Germany and some reports has indicated Alsace-Lorraine. He was born December 8, 1849 and died March 31, 1908, buried in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. He married Margarite Weidner who was born in Germany (Hesse) February 13, 1851, died November 28, 1890. She also is buried in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Clark County, In. They had two children, George and Anna. George married Goldie Jones and Anna married John Reichle. I am searching for immigration on David Strabler as well as wife Margarite Weidner. I am searching for the parents of Henry HARMON. He was born Feb 1858 in MO according to the 1900 Tunica MS Census. He said on that census that his parents were born in KY. I have searched for Henry in MO and neighboring states in the 1860 Census to no avail. Henry married Sarah Francis Doneghew Whitworth on May 5, 1887 in Tate Co. MS. They appear together on the 1900 Tunica MS Census with their two children, Thomas Virgil and Anna Adele. A close neighbor later married Henry's nephew Bob Lee Harmon. Henry either had a brother or a close cousin named James. James was older than Henry, but I don't know by how much. James married Joann Ferguson and they had one son, Bob Lee, born in Tupelo MS. I am more than willing to share any info you would like re Henry's descendants. Thanks for your help. Karen
I am interested in John DEREMIAH Sr. and his son John Jr. who moved from Hardin-Grayson Co., KY, to Washington Co., IN between 1814-1819. Also, John Deremiah's step-son Thompson RUDE who moved from Grayson Co., KY, to Washington Co., IN, at about the same time. 1820 Washington Co.IN census: Deremiah, John Sr. age 45+ and his wife Mary Ann (Rude) 45+ Deremiah, John Jr. age 26-45, his wife 26-45, and 4 children under the age of 10 Rude, Thompson 26-45. his wife, and 7 children under the age of 10 John Deremiah Sr. married widow Mary Ann (Ashby) Rude in August 1791 in Hardin Co., KY. If John Jr. was born 1792-1800, he would be their son. I am seeking proof of this. Mary Ann (Ashby, Rude) Deremiah died at some time between 1820 and 1830. She was born in 1752 so would be 68-78 years old when she died. She is not alive per the 1830 census. I am seeking her death date and burial place which would prob be in Washington Co., IN. I am also seeking the date of death, death place, and burial place for John Deremiah Sr. I have determined that he died between 1835-1850 as he is on the Washington Co., IN, 1835 Am Rev War Pension List at 91 years of age -- but not on the 1840 census. If someone has the 1850 census for Washington Co., I would appreciate a look-up. John Deremiah Jr. is on the index as being on page 493. Any further info on DEREMIAH and RUDE would be greatly appreciated. -- Helen Graves
