I am interested in this family found in the 1900 Spencer Co, Ky. census. In Magistrate Dist. 1 -Taylorsville is found Charles G. Mathis b. Jan 1877 in Ky. ; wife Fonia b. June 1879 in Ky. and son Thomas M. b. Nov 1899 in Ky. I believe Fonia is Sophronia Muir, the dau. of Thomas Riley Muir and Laura A. Wightman. It is known that Sophronia Muir Mathis had three children since these children are living w. Thomas and Laura Muir, their grandparents, in the 1910 Spencer Co. census. The children were Thomas M. Mathis b. 8 Nov 1899, died 1979 in Jefferson Co., Ky., Margaret G. Mathias b, abt. 1901, and Laura W. Mathis b. 1902. If the suppositions drawn from these two census are correct then both Charles G. Mathis and his wife Sophronia Muir Mathis, died between 1902 and 1910. Does anyone have further details on this Mathis - Muir family?? Thank you, Kathleen Rizer

I am at a brick wall with my ggrandmother. She was Catherine or Katherine Matillda Frazelle born in Kentucky abt 1856. That is all I know of her birth. She married Edwin C. Simington in Warren County, Illinois in 1877. They had at least one son, Charles Sumner Simington born in 1878 in Illinois. I found some Frazelle's in Trigg County, Kentucky but both woman had married a Frazelle, they were Mary and Lydia. I have been unable to find out who their husbands were, if they had children or their maiden names. If anyone has any info on FRAZELLE's from Kentucky I would love to hear about it. Thank you!! Judy

I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. .I also wish to thank the patience of those regular subscribers for my frequent postings. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Please see my website which is dedicated to those who passed through the gates of Andersonville Kevin Please visit my website dedicated to those Americans who were imprisoned and died in captivity while in the service to our country http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/Andersonvilleprison/index.html

In 1883/1884 a group of related families left Warrick Co. IN and settled in Yell Co. AR. At least one of the primary families was that of Joseph Young, immigrant from England, and his wife, Eleanor McDonald Wingate Young. Another primary family was that of John and Mary Dean, of England and Ireland. Most of their children were married and had young families, other children were born in AR. Several of the children of these two families had intermarried. The children and their spouses made up the travelers of this migration. The surnames found in this group were as follows: YOUNG, DEAN, CAMPBELL, WINGATE and HOWSLEY. There may have been others of which I am unaware. These families are found living close to one another on the 1900 Yell County, AR. Census in the Chickalah Township. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has further knowledge of these migrants or other groups who may have followed the same paths. What type travel was involved? Did they raft, take boats, wagon trains? How would they get there? Why did so many leave IN? Was Yell Co. the original final destination? Thanks for any information you may be able to share.
