Hi Jan. You may have gotten lots of responses from your request - but just in case, there is a great site for researching the SSDI: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi You can search their data base. It's updated as of March 2001. They even provide you with a letter you can cut and paste to use to make it your own. It looks like a copy can cost you $7.00 if you know the SS#. FYI: We ordered one for a Kentucky ancestor and it had her parents name - which was great information! It took about a month to get it. Hope this helps. Mary MCDONALD b. 1840 in Meade Co., KY, d/o Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Powell MCDONALD, married H.B. BRANDENBURG on 07 Dec 1871 in Meade Co., KY. Mary died 16 Nov 1915. I don't have anything more about this couple. As you mentioned, there are a lot of BRANDENBURGs in the Kentuckiana area! Regards, Terri McDonald Hauk [email protected]
Dear web master, I had no idea how active this list was. I am primarily interested in the family of an great-uncle by marriage, and I already have found pretty much what I want to know about his ancestery. He was a Brandenburg, and I know that there were lots of Brandemburgs in the Kentuckiana area. If you would please take me off of the Kentuckiana-L mailing list, and let me try the Kentuckiana-D mailing list, I think that would be better. Sincerely, O.E.Jones [email protected]
This list is not the place to be discussing VIRUS', not is it the place to be spreading panic... Let this be the last mention of the subject of VIRUS. Many of you are being "taken in" by a so-called virus "SULFNBR.EXE". THIS IS A HOAX IF YOU DELETE THIS, YOU ARE CRIPPLING YOUR COMPUTER. IT IS A PART OF YOUR MICROSOFT PROGRAM... Please refrain from forwarding panic alerts, warnings etc on this forum... You are just spreading the alarm over something that is NOT A DANGER TO YOUR SYSTEM... Jan, The cost of a social security app is $7 per request. Be prepared to wait 2 to 3 months for your request to be returned. When you do a SSDI search on Ancestry and Rootsweb there is a link to automatically print the request for you. All you need to add is your name, address, and phone number. Renea

I will be leaving town on vacation on this Friday May 25th and will return on Sunday June 3rd. During that time, the list will be taken care of by my father, Dick Carter. Many of you have corresponded with him in the past. Although our system is automated, there are occassionally some problems in subbing or unsubbing. In this instance, you may contact Dick Carter at [email protected] So please remember to contact him with a problem or it may not be taken care of in the next week. For any of you directly connected with the lines I am researching, he will also be able to assist you with any of those questions. Debbie [email protected] "Following the footprints through time"

We were one this week, and I found that Levi Brady was buried in Jeffersonville In, and is buried in the Eastern Cemetery, just couldn't find it to take a picture, but did get the cemetery directors name and phone #, and also go a phone book for that area. The Library said that they are going to put this cemetery online, it's really not a large cemetery, but with the broken ankle to hard to do all the looking. At least, Levi was buried on Dec 28 1904, his death certificate didn't have this information.
