Ddoes someone have access to the 1900 census for Jefferson County,Indiana? Would like to know the first name of the Thompson in Lancaster Twp who has a Hugh Starkey living with him, and also the other names of the wife and children of Mr. Thompson and where they were born. I have been hunting them for 20 years and someone kindly gave me a clue the other day which might help. Thanks very much, Roslyn
For anyone interested the url for the Kentuckiana page will be http://www.angelfire.com/ky3/kentuckianahome there is not much on there except in the photo albums...other areas have some items. You can however see the formatting I am using at the current time. I am interested in your comments Debbie Jennings Sweet Owen and Surrounding Areas http://www.angelfire.com/in4/sweetowen/ Indiana Research for Hire and Great Links LONGAGO~FARAWAY INDIANA RESEARCH Franklin county Vermont Genweb Site Franklin County Vermont Lancaster County Virginia Genweb Site Lancaster County, VAGenWeb Project
Listmembers: Within the past month or so, I am certain that many of you have been aware that the Myfamily.com pages have shifted to becoming a site that will be in a "Pay" format for any data over 5 MG, our Kentuckiana site as of last night had 23 MG of data. As I have done with another myfamily.com site I maintained, I am in the process of moving our page to another site that will be free. I have begun with the photos as those are the largest items in most cases and have brought our total data stored into the range of 3.87 MB by doing this. It may not seem to many of you to be necessary but 5MB is not much space and I know that many of you have more to add in the future. This process will take a few days and I will attempt to complete it ASAP. I am asking that anyone who has items to place on the new pages, send them to ME and please DON'T place them on the myfamily site as I am trying to deplete its content in moving. There will be many questions from some of you as to why not just pay for the site... Well, it is more a matter of principle for me, as I cannot justify having to pay to access items that we all have placed on the pages. If anyone is interested in viewing the new pages in progress, please let me know and I will send the url...at present time please reference the myfamily site for the majority of your data. I will be taking it off of there as it is transferred. I will also let everyone know when the process is completed and I close the Kentuckiana myfamily site. If for any reason.....anyone has any items on the myfamily site that they don't wish to have on a public site, please go in and remove those items today. WHAT WE WILL LOOSE IN CHANGING THE SITE OVER: 1. The ability to have Family Trees on the page (I am working on doing a page for GEDCOM exchange) 2. The ability to post items yourself. Items will need to be sent to myself or my father, Dick Carter for posting. WHAT WE WILL IN A SENSE GAIN FROM DOING THIS: 1. We will maintain our data and not loose any of it. 2. We will be able to continue free access. 3. We will no longer have a need for a password and the problems associated with it. I look forward to your opinions on this situation. Also, I will soon be taking names for listing on a surname registry for our researching area. I have other ideas for items/categories for our pages, however, my most immediate concern is to move all current items off the page first. John Byram in 1816 purchased a land grant of 10 acres on the headwaters of Little Barren Creek. I have just discovered that this area is probably in Metcalf CO. On the 1820 Barren CO Census, both John Sr. (born 1765 Granville CO NC) and John Jr. (born 1797 NC) are listed as heads of household. John Sr. was married to Milly Morris. John Jr. married Elizabeth "Betsey" Parks in 1819 in Barren County.John Jr.'s sister, Nancy Byrum, married Granville H. Whitlow. If anyone can provide me with more information, I would sure appreciate it. Thank you. Barb Byram Milman [email protected]
List Viewers My ex-mother-in-law's name is Madge Louise 'Tyler' Swepston (born: 1921 in Talcott, Summers Co., West Virginia). Her father's name was William Daniel Tyler, and her mother's name was ADDIE BOWES (b. 12-04-1891 and d. 07-15-1970). Addie had a twin sister named DALE BOWES, who lived in Florida for some time in her later years. I don't know if there were other siblings. Addie lived in Talcott, Summers County, West Virginia in the 1920 census with William Tyler and their first three oldest daughters, Evelyn, Polly Christine, and Norma. All three were born after 1915. However, I cannot find her in any census before that time, (though her husband William is in several) and must assume that she may have lived in another county or state. I have Addie's parents listed as Howard Bowes (no dates) and Martha (no maiden name or dates). In the 1920 census, Addie's mother is listed as being born in West Virginia and her father in Pennsylvania. I have not found them in the Summers County census either. Unfortunately, that is all the information I have. Any help you can give on this family would be greatly appreciated. Vicki Swepston [email protected]

Its http://www.ancestry.com. They will give you I think a 14 day free trial and after that there is a yearly fee. It is easy and it will show you "hits" and or information on the ancestor that you are looking for. Just put the name in the right slot. There is always Civil War information listed there if it pertains' to your ancestor. Usually lists Regiment, Unit, rank Confederate or Union and that type of information. It also has census information which in Genealogy is proof of facts. I use it to verify facts and information. In closing, I hope these Civil War sites will provide you with some information that you can use. Any mistakes, sorry. Have a good one, "Out Genealogy Hunting"! *I am looking for the marriage record of GEORGIA GERTRUDE BECK and DOUGLAS S. HUNTING, sometime in 1937 or 1938 possibly in Jefferson County. They are my parents. Mother's family lived in Louisville, Kentucky for a very long time. My parents met in California and had their first child in Michigan, but genealogists have been unable to locate a marriage license or certificate for either state. *I am also looking for a divorce record for MATTIE GERTRUDE (Maiden name LUCKEY) and ABSOLOM NIXON BECK, supposedly in Louisville, Kentucky, sometime between 1923-1925. *I'm hoping someone has access to these vital records during these time periods and can help me. Thanking you in advance. [email protected]

The Filson Club is one of the premier Kentucky history and family research facilities in the country. Many of us are or have been members and people travel from across the country to research there. I have seen it promoted on many rootsweb lists. The Filson Club has decided to increase its rates, doubling them in some cases. They are now charging non-members $10.00 a day for the use of their research library and members a $5.00 dollar fee. They do have a $100.00 dollar a year rate that does not have to pay the fee. The Director of the Filson Club will be at the Sept 25 meeting of the Louisville Genealogical Society. He will speak at 12 noon to explain the fees and to answer questions. It is requested that members and non-members show up for this very special meeting. The meetings are held at The LDS church on Hurstbourne lane in Louisville, KY. It is a couple blocks North of the I-64 exit across Linn Station road from the McDonalds. Please do not start a discussion on this on the mail lists, but if you can not show up please E-Mail your comments or support to mailto:[email protected] ---------------------------------------------------- NetZero Platinum Sign Up Today - Only $9.95 per month! http://my.netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum&refcd=PT97
