    1. Re: [KENTUCKIANA-L] Henderson Co. Obit Search Engine
    2. Try this website for obituaries: http://browning.evcpl.lib.in.us/ This site lists obituary abstracts going back to the early 1900's for the Evansville, IN (Vanderburgh Co) newspapers covering the Tri-State area of Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois. Henderson, KY is our closest Kentucky neighbor (right across the river) so there are many obituaries for Henderson's death and many family connections of Evansville's residents. The most current obituaries are searchable for survivors as well. There are also many connections with our other neighbors of Posey, Warrick, Gibson, Dubois, and Perry Co., IN as well as Daviess, Webster, and Union Co., KY. These are the main counties that Kentuckiana researchers may be interested. Evansville is the largest city in Southern Indiana so we connect to many families of the Tri-State area. This is a really good site!!!! Hope someone has luck with it! Rose Evansville, IN

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Re: KENTUCKIANA-D
    2. I have found a cousin to my grandmother who is the only living relative to the Lehr, Pennington Moss line and I was not aware that she is still alive. The woman has stopped coressponding with my mom and several other family members. They all feel that she is in early stages of Alzimers and that no family members live in the same state with her. She responded to my letter as she recognized my grandmothers name. I'd like to continue to write her, but I'm afraid I'll say the wrong thing and she will not answer my letters. However, she said the names of her aunts & uncles sounded familar and she couldn't give me any intelligent info on them. She did give me the info in 1986. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can find out if anyone is caring for her? She is widowed and states she lives alone. Can anyone tell me the address or phone number for social services in Louisville, KY? Thanks

    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Need Some Info On German Imigrants
    2. I am researching my husband's German ancestors, and in the Census records I find some intries that I would like clarified, as to their meaning. In the section for birth place of parents they list Ger/Gere German (not Germany) in the 1910 Census. In the 1880 Census one family member lists the birth place of her parents as Hesse C. We knew that this has something to do with Germany because in later census they are listed as Germany. Can anyone tell me what these two references mean. Are they actually referring to a specific location in Germany? Pat Durham McRae, in Indiana

    3. Transcription of document typed by my Grandmother, Effie Collins Hildinger. This is a 1947 interview between Effie M. Collins Hildinger and her aunt, Minnie Duncan Collins in Burbank, CA “My great great grandparents (paternal) came to Missouri on the first train to the continent [?]. Great great grandfather died of cholera on the train. They stopped the train long enough to bury him along the track. They had two boys; one was my great grandfather. Don’t know what happened to his brother. (Don’t know where they came from!)” “My great grandfather, William Jackson Collins – was born in Tennessee [1]. After the Civil War, he left Tennessee and went to Missouri where he married Nancy Adelaide Duncan. She was of Scotch descent. Her parents crossed the plains to Missouri when she was 14 years of age; she rode horseback part of the way; took them 3 months. (I don’t know where they started.) Her parents were wealthy; Her father and his brother owned a distillery. Her father was born in Alabama and her mother was born in Tennessee. [2] To get back to William and Nancy – they left Missouri and went to Oregon and from Oregon to California. Their children were two boys and one girl; Lee, Albert and Minnie. Albert was born in Gilroy, California. He was the father of Effie M. Collins Hildinger.” [1] Minnie’s father was named Wm J Collins, (born IN abt 1833) and her possibly grandfather also? [2] Nancy Adeline Duncan was born in Platte Co., MO – her father, born SC was a farmer – so was his father, b NC - I wonder if this is gg grandmother Collins she is talking about? My Questions are: Can any of you support the idea of this being three-generation story, not two – Minnie’s father and grandfather both being Wm J Collins? Does anyone know of a distillery run by a Duncan or Collins family? [?] Does anyone have a clue which “train” she is talking about? - Rail was after the Civil War, or 1865, right? Wm J was in Oregon in 1852 or 1853, so the “train” had to be before that. Some of the first wagon trains across the continent went west from Independence, MO around 184?. I think I remember from my history lessons that the first wagon train went through the Cumberland Gap about 1795. To “cross the plains” to Missouri would mean what in the context of the Gap crossing? Does anyone have a MO or TN or IN, or ? State Census of Collins, Wm J age 17, son of ? or Wm J on a 1850 Census? Thank you for your attention - Susan Hildinger Hoerner

    2. I believe a few weeks ago I saw someone post something about a "Dutch" Moss. Shortly after that I received an obit for Roy Lee "Roxie" Moss who died around 16 Mar 1993 in Louisville, KY. It listed Dutch Moss as his brother. I'm trying to learn more about the family and I'm trying to locate any relatives that still may be living. I'm trying to find out if his wife Phyllis Moss is still living. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Also looking for exact date of death, cause and name of cemetery that he is buried in. At a brick wall. Sandy in VA

    3. Jan, you are a doll!!! That is definitely them. Now, I have another question - what on earth is a puddler?? 3. Jan, thank you so much for taking the time to search for me. This isn't the right George as far as I can tell. My George and Mary had a daughter, Virginia Lizabeth, on 7/1/1871.
