I am not convinced that the Alfred in the 1881 and 1891 censuses is your man, given the difference in place of birth. You have not provided any rationale on why you think it's him, other than DOB. Your man is, presumably, the one in the 1911 Census, age 34 and born in Swamcombe, wife Bessie 28, children Bessie Mary 10, Lily 6, Elise May 4 and George 10 months. They are in the 1901C at 171 Prospect Ave, Strood Intra, although Alfred is now 38(?) and born in Northfleet, Bessie is 19 and Bessie M is 10 months. Also at #171 is Mary Fay, Bessie's mother, several of Bessie's siblings and a boarder. Northfleet is acceptable as a POB because it is right next door to Swancombe. Findmypast has Alfred at 1901 as aged 28. If you zoom in you'll see it is actually a 2 and not a 3!
