Further to my email yesterday I found an article in The Era, 28 August 1864 which told me, Freeman THOMPSON aged 50 was aboard the Fawn a lugger from Deal which was ran over by the steamer Biddick and sank at North Foreland. All the fisherman perished including, James William REDSULL aged 25, Edward WELLS aged 41, John Riley aged 24. Unfortunately no exact date of the accident is given in the article. This explains why I cannot find a recorded death for Freeman THOMPSON as the article goes on to say a reward is offered for the recovery of their bodies. Now I will look for a second marriage for Freeman's widow. Cheers, Diane New Zealand.
