George (no middle name) HOLTUM's birth was recorded in the 3rd qtr of 1868. He was the first child of George HOLTUM and Jane PARSONS. On 20 Jun 1892 he married Alice Mary HUDSON. The 1901 census shows the young George, his wife and two children living at 50 Morins Road, Dover, Kent. His occupation is recorded as 'Professor of Music.' In 1902 he was declared bankrupt according to a report in the Edinburgh Gazette. Allegedly he had operated a business at 15 Folkestone Road, Dover but the 1901 census shows this address as a residence. The 1911 ceusus shows George, his wife and three children living at 12 Minerva Avenue, Dover. His occupation is now 'Piano Tuner.' We now skip ahead to 1939 when we find Alice Mary HOLTUM, widow has expired. The probate record show her residence as 11 Minerva Avenue, Dover.
