I have a very few HOLTTUMs in my database, specifically Gilbert Bedford HOLTTUM b. abt 1841 in Canterbury. Married Maude DADDS in Thanet 1867. Their son was Gilbert Bedford HOLTTUM b 1869. George (no middle name) HOLTUM's birth was recorded in the 3rd qtr of 1868. He was the first child of George HOLTUM and Jane PARSONS. On 20 Jun 1892 he married Alice Mary HUDSON. The 1901 census shows the young George, his wife and two children living at 50 Morins Road, Dover, Kent. His occupation is recorded as 'Professor of Music.' In 1902 he was declared bankrupt according to a report in the Edinburgh Gazette. Allegedly he had operated a business at 15 Folkestone Road, Dover but the 1901 census shows this address as a residence. The 1911 ceusus shows George, his wife and three children living at 12 Minerva Avenue, Dover. His occupation is now 'Piano Tuner.' We now skip ahead to 1939 when we find Alice Mary HOLTUM, widow has expired. The probate record show her residence as 11 Minerva Avenue, Dover. I have been unable to find a death entry for "young" George. Before anyone suggest the 1927 death in W Ashford ... that was his Dad (my ggf). Any ideas, anyone? Hi Carol: Gilbert Bedford HOLTTUM (jnr) and George HOLTUM (jnr) were fourth cousins and probably didn't know each other existed. Unfortunately no help in determining what happened to George!
