    3. Hi James Looking at the Hothfield PRs it seems that Thomas Hall was buried Hothfield 25 Nov 1854 aged 65 Caroline was buried 3 Apr 1833 aged 36 (maybe in childbirth?) The youngest child William chr 11 Apr 1832 was bur 20 Aug 1832. Son Robert William (grazier, bach otp)(s of Thomas, grazier) m Mary Ann GURR (sp, otp)(dau of Richard lab) on 10 Nov 1860 in Hothfield. Witnesses were George Gurr and Emily Jane Read. In 1841 Thomas was in Hothfield with wife? Lucy and children George, Robert and Thomas. Thomas is shown as a Registrar. I had a quick look for the other children but with a name like Hall not easy. In 1851 Thomas is alone with Lucy (b 1801 Rastrick, Yorks) and shown as a Relieving Office & Registrar. The only child I have had time to find in 1851 is James, who is with wife Mary (b 1826 Kensington) in Kensington, Middx. He is shown as an accountant. You may already have this info but if not gives you something to go on with Regards Sue -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of James Hall Sent: 23 May 2012 23:55 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [KENT-ENG] ELIZA HALL Hi Chris Thank you for that information. Thomas Hall (born Hothfield, Kent in 1789) was my g-g grandfather. In 1820 he married Caroline Shipwash (born in Kent in 1797) and they had six children. Their second child was James Shipwash Hall (born Kent 1822) -- my g-grandfather. James Shipwash emigrated to Australia, and in 1867 married Rosetta Richmond (born in Tasmania, Australia in 1838); they had eight children, the second eldest being James Shipwash Richmond Hall, (born 1869 in Victoria, Australia), my grandfather. In 1911, my grandfather married Helena Thorne (born in Australia in 1889); they had five children, the second eldest being James Shipwash Richmond Hall, my father. I'm the third James Shipwash Richmond in the line.. As I said in my posting, I have not been able to trace any of Thomas Hall's ancestors and would appreciate any assistance, suggestions, etc you may be able to offer. (I have been able to trace Thomas Hall's wife, Caroline Shipwash back to the seventeenth century). Thank you -- enjoy your holiday and I look forward to hearing from you after May 30. Cheers ... 3. Hi Sue Thank you very much for that information. I had some of it, but by no means all. Thomas did indeed have a second wife, Lucy who I thought was born in Kent in 1901 -- thanks for the correction. I don't know Lucy's maiden name, nor do I know whether she and Thomas had any children together. As far as I know, Thomas and first wife, Caroline, had six children. You refer to child James in 1851 being with his wife Mary in Kensington, Middlesex. This was the first wife of James (my g-grandfather). She was Mary Holmes; they married in 1850; she came to Australia with him and died in Melbourne, Victoria in 1861. I don't know the exact date of their coming to Australia -- any information? Nor do I know if they had any children. Interestingly, James is shown in 1851 as an accountant. I had an understanding he arrived in Australia as a "banker", but have no real details. In Australia in 1865 he married a Rosalie Allison (about whom I have absolutely no details), and then Rosetta Richmond (my g-grandmother) in 1867 -- they had eight children. Cheers ...
