Hi Jenny: I did a Google Search for Elizabeth Wonger and I see that someone thinks James Roffe was born 1772 Speldhurst, Kent. Have you checked out Speldhurst? It is quite close to Tunbridge Wells so a good possibility if you can find a baptism. Edward's father was James and his mother was Elizabeth WONGER. Now this is my problem. Absolutely nothing is known about James or his wife Elizabeth. Edward brought his family to Australia in 1939. None of his Aussie descendants can find James or Elizabeth. Where did they come from, and who were their parents? Did they originally come from Sussex, or from Kent, or from somewhere else? All of James' children were apparently born/baptised/christened in Tunbridge Wells. I have searched what I can find on the net, and have found several James ROFFEs but not enough detail to be sure which is the correct one. Hello Janis. I have been searching for this guy for some years, and I think I have looked everywhere, including Speldhurst. There are many records with his name, but none gives me the information to link one or another with mine. Thank you for your suggestion though. One day I will win the lottery and be able to travel to your fair country and have a look.
