I have the same problem; the parish registers for Erith, Kent were mostly destroyed in a fire over a century ago. The Bishop´s Transcripts were also held at Rochester and I was told many years ago that they were not stored properly and probably got eaten by mice or rats! My ancestor was born in the 1780s and I doubt I´ll ever find his parents. Diane
