Hi Maree, Do you know for certain that Mary Barton was born in Kent? If you do you should know that there are only a small percentage of baptisms for Kent available on-line and there are several hundred parishes in Kent. There were 2 parish churches in Deptford in the 1700s with little on-line coverage, so she could actually have been born in Deptford. Without some knowledge of her origins and parentage I´m afraid you are looking for a needle in a haystack as BARTON is not an uncommon name. My best suggestion would be to eliminate Deptford parishes first (St. Nicholas and St Paul) - they should be available for searching at your local LDS centre. In the 1700s the only way to get from rural Kent would be to walk unless you had the money to pay for transport and normally only the wealthy could afford that. As for two children being called the same in a family, it was common practice to name a second child the same as one who had died. Sorry no positive suggestions, but I hope this will help you going on a wild goose chase and probably tracing the wrong family. Diane
