    3. Jack, My view is that Stephen the elder is Margaret's husband and is called the elder just to differentiate from their son Stephen. I also think that for certain there are 8 children (Stephen [the eldest], Andrew, John, Robert, Edmund, William, George and Johan [Joan]. I don't believe Margaret and Dorothy are their children. More likely Stephen[the elder]'s sisters or nieces but possibly [as no clarification given to where they live] living with them. Regards Peter I hope the formatting of this will stays intact. My problem with this is determining how many children Margaratt had and if she was the wife of Stephen Beeching the elder mentioned in the will. I would appreciate any thoughts. 3. I tend to agree Peter, they are the only ones she does not mention as (daughters sons or whatever) so quite likely they are sisters of Stephen. Other neices and nephews are mentioned as sons of Stephen my son etc but could still possibly be nieces........ Jack have you databased all your findings because you may have to scout around Parishes surrounding Hawkehurst adding other Beechings and Mynges etc as you go? cheers Pam from Adelaide Australia Cheers Pam > Jack, > > My view is that Stephen the elder is Margaret's husband and is called the > elder just to differentiate from their son Stephen. 3. Hi Jack, I too have transcribed a lot of wills, congrats it's a doozy. I reckon that Margaratt is the 2nd wife of Stephen Beeching the elder. Here's my thoughts. 1. She mentions the boys first and states they are the sons of Stephen Beeching the elder. 2. She also mentions Margaret, Dorothye and Johan all daughters of Stephen Beeching. BUT she mentions giving pillows to Johan (and for the first time) states MY DAUGHTER. Could be wrong, but when you are hunting, take into consideration that she could be the second wife. Cheers Pam > > I hope the formatting of this will stays intact. 3. Hi Jack  I am hoping to add the will of Margaratt Beeching to the Kent Genealogy website will transcripts. One problem is I can't find the will listed on the Kent indexes.  Can you tell me which court it was probated at?  If you have a document reference that would be even better. Would you like me to include an email link for you in case anyone wants to contact you about it?  Obviously they can do that already through the Kent list as your email will remain in the archives. Finally, if you have any other Kent will transcripts, or extracts, pre 1858 I welcome all contributions to the website.
