    3. Dear Listers Can anyone help me find out more about Elizabeth Newman who was the second wife of my great grandfather John Glanville Bogg married at St. Nicholas Church, Plumstead, Kent on 2nd December 1882. Her father is stated as Francis Newman Watchmaker and one of the witnesses is Anne Newman. Presume that is her sister or maybe her mother. Elizabeth died only three years later as Elizabeth Bogg aged just 32 in Plumstead in 1885 which makes her born in 1853 but I can't find her on the censuses before her marriage. I don't know where she was born! Some people have put her on their tree as being born in Dover but the censuses they show say her father was Thomas! John's first wife Mary McCarthy died of T.B. Elizabeth too died of T.B. I suspect that Elizabeth was working as a housekeeper for the family whilst Mary was dying. Can anyone find her on the 1881 census living near John Bogg? He was living at 24 Richmond Street, Plumstead East and is listed as Arsenal Labourer aged 36 widower living with his three sons John, Daniel and Edmund. Poor John lost his first wife and three of his children from his first marriage, then his second wife and their son in 1885. Then his third wife (my great grandmother) did survive him and so did his six children from his third marriage but the poor man drowned himself by jumping into the river Thames from the Free Woolwich Ferry because he was in terrible pain from bowel cancer! What a difficult life! -- --- Regards Frances Lee
