Regards Sue -----Original Message----- From: kent-eng-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:kent-eng-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of SBS Engineers Research Sent: 26 July 2013 04:07 To: kent-eng@rootsweb.com Subject: [SPAM] [KENT-ENG] FW: FW: Some advice Sue A man named David put this entry in my website 1759: Kevinhuller, goldsmith. Born? Unknown date and place. Kevenhuller Skinner was the son of Jacob Skinner (listed in this index). >From the Apprenticeship book: "Kevenhuller Skinner the son of Jacob Skinner late of the City of Bath Engraver deceased was apprenticed to Thomas Orpin, Citizen and Goldsmith, for the term of seven years from 4 April 1759". He appears again in a 1773 court case at the Old Bailey where the evidence recorded says he has a shop on the corner of Bedfordbury and Wood Street. However, as there has never been a "Wood" street in Bedfordbury it is likely to have been in "New Street". Sometime between 1777 and 1781 he seems to have moved to Canterbury, Kent, where the settled in the parish of Holy Cross Westgate. I have not been able to find out whether he continued in the engraving/retail jewellery trade, though his will describes him as being an Engineer and broker. The unusual forename is after that of an Austrian general who fought with George II in the wars of Austrian Succession. Do you know him - I have an email address.... Contact me off list.
