Dear Richard A place has been set at our table for you and your wife Sarah for the past 10 years, but sadly for some reason you are unable to come to my home. Was that because you moved to the USA - is that why you disappeared so suddenly after the 1891 census? Someone told me after my appeal last year that a similar name to yours was on a passenger list but I have been unable to find out more. You are my great great uncle born 26th January 1867 at Friezley near Cranbrook to Charles (agric lab) & Mary WILLIAMS nee BAKER. The last I heard of you was when you and Sarah were living with your parents at Park Cottages Frittenden in 1891. You married between 1885 & 1891 but I cannot find a marriage for you. I believe Sarah was born 1864 in Ticehurst but there were a number of Sarah's born around about that time so have been unable to identify her properly. Your brother James an agric lab. b.1858/63 in Cranbrook married Annie Bourne BURGESS and you have 7 nephews and 4 nieces. I know it gets expensive to buy for family at Christmas but it's a bit dramatic fleeing to the States, if that is what you did. Anyway, for some reason your father Charles ended up in Cranbrook workhouse after his wife Mary, your mother died at Weavers Den Frittenden. Family members tell me he used to walk to Egerton from time to time, a journey of approx 12 miles to see your brother James. I recently found your great grandparents James also an agric lab. b. 1763 Cranbrook & Winifred WILLIAMS nee PARKS b. 1767 at Cranbrook. Winifred died in 1853 Cranbrook at the good age of 86 years. All these family members will be at my house on 25th. I will light the log fire and we will all wait for you both. If you need directions just go to Google maps. June in Edinburgh
