    1. [KENT-ENG] Bring Home Walt's kids for Christmas
    2. Katie de Haan
    3. List, It's fairly recent family history, but I may have some Kentish half-brothers or half-sisters I'd like to bring home for Christmas. I'm not mentioning any surnames here, so it should be ok. I finally found my Canadian drifter father's name last year, after a lifetime not knowing who he was. Since I found his family in Canada, I've been trying to reconstruct his life story and find all the children he had along the way. From an orphan and only child, I have now gone to the middle child of 7 or 8 and the counter is still running! To date, I have found three in Canada and five in the UK including me. He had fairly long-term relationships with all our mothers, but these relationships were by no means exclusive, so there could easily be more of his children around. He was in Europe from Christmas Day 1940 throughout the War and until 1953. My father was all over the UK, but spent quite some time in the late 40s and early 50s messing about in a boat on the Thames estuary and beyond. At least one of the children he fathered was registered in Thanet, probably born Margate, in 1950. Since the children were most registered under the mother's name (often her husband's) it is irrelevant to post any names. After all, we don't know who we're looking for. So my question is, if anyone (knows of anyone who) was born in that period of dubious parentage and seriously thinks his or her father might have been a Canadian drifter, do get in touch. If you have reason to believe this really might apply to you, we can compare notes. gallorosso and then the at sign followed by home then dot nl for the Netherlands. ( I'm not too worried about weirdos jumping on our bandwagon, because a simple autosomal DNA test will show whether we're really related. And if any weirdos take the test and are shown to be related, well then, they're OUR weirdos.) J Thank you, and I hope we all find our strays this Christmas, Greetings from Holland Katie de Haan Born London UK 1948 resident in The Netherlands
