My sympathies for all those who wrestle with John Smith research. Mine, born in 1815 in Kent is also lying quietly despite many years of research. But my reason for writing, is to ask if you have discovered an on[line repository of London wills. My gggrandfather George Bolton Bolton, solicitor died in November of 1869 in London. I have tried but do not know how to locate his will. Regards, Nancy Seger EM OConnell wrote: > Thank you Libby, I had not found that website on my searches. The John Maud does not feel right even with the correct date, as I have not come across that name so far. If however it is not out of your way, it would be great if you could check for me. Clearly there is no rush as this John Smith has been lying quietly for a long time! > Thank you so much again > Elizabeth > > > On 31/12/2013, at 12:34 AM, Libby Richardson <libellenrichardson@gmail.com> wrote: > > >> Hi Elizabeth >> >> The East Kent Wills Indexes are on the Kent Archaeological Society’s website and cover Canterbury Archdeaconry and Consistory Court wills pre 1858 and you can search either by name or place. The quickest way to locate the indexes is to search for East Kent Wills Indexes. I did look but could only find a reference to a John Maud Smith of Canterbury who made a will in 1844 which was probated in 1846. The images and the originals of the wills are held at the Kent History and Library Centre at Maidstone. If you want I could have a look at the will the next time I am in there. >> >> Best wishes >> >> Libby >> West Malling >> Kent UK >> >> On 30 Dec 2013, at 10:02, Cathryn Warren <cathryn@uandidirect.com.au> wrote: >> >> >>> Hi Elizabeth, >>> >>> Congratulations on finding his details.
