My 2nd ggmother Elizabeth Turk Friend was the illegitimate daughter of Ann Friend, of Peasmarsh, Sussex. When she bore my ggrandfather, Frederick Friend, on 2/10/1629. she named his father as John Friend. She had Frederick in Paddington, London. This leads me to believe she went away to have the baby or perhaps she was working there. Either way, this is a huge brick wall for me, not to be able to go back any further. I am addressing this to the Kent list since I know there are lots of Friends in Kent, but I have a feeling there is a need to go back to the Turk family, that of Elizabeths "father" as well.
