Have you tried Janes Ships. Started in 1898,there has been annual publications of naval ships and details about them. I have not looked into it in detail but know that 'Janes' had information about many military and naval matters. October 1898 Harwich. October 1897 Chatham. In the early 1890s she did service in China. Some years ago I decided I wanted to know where my GF served and managed to get images of Navy Stations (Jan 1893 to Oct 1899) published in UK newspapers. There's probably an easier way to do this - it seemed a good idea at the time. Incidentally, Navy Stations was usually published with Army Stations for anyone tracking army units.
