Would anyone have any information or Photographs on the HMS SEVERN circa 1900( I believe She was decommisioned circa 1902 )I know there are or have been more modern uses of the name but My Grandfather CHARLES NOBLE served on 'Her 'but other than this I know nothing of him his Service or indeed any other of His Navy life . You didn't mention his period of service but if it helps in October 1899 she was in Harwich. October 1898 Harwich. October 1897 Chatham. In the early 1890s she did service in China. Some years ago I decided I wanted to know where my GF served and managed to get images of Navy Stations (Jan 1893 to Oct 1899) published in UK newspapers. There's probably an easier way to do this - it seemed a good idea at the time. Incidentally, Navy Stations was usually published with Army Stations for anyone tracking army units.
