I would sincerely like to thank Pam, Sue, Dennis, Robert, Suzannah and John for all replying to my query re William Ashby's parentage. I was on the wrong track, which I suspected, so now am on the straight and narrow! Last night, when the first few answers came in, complete with the 1891 census, I thought I'll (cheekily) ask for the 1901 census, and this morning there it was! I now have more work to do to find siblings and put more meat on the bones of William Ashby. His granddaughter in NZ will be thrilled. Regards to all, Robyn of Oz.
