    1. [KENT-ENG] [Kent] ADMIN NOTICE _ UNSUBSCRIBING FROM THE LIST
    2. D. Stuart Hammond
    3. Hi All, Recently a few people have had problems with unsubscribing so I thought this might prove useful. If you are planning to unsubscribe in the near future please keep for reference. IF YOU GET MAIL IN DIGEST MODE (i.e. you get a file once a day) then you need to send a message to KENT-ENG-D-request@rootsweb.com . In the subject line write the word 'unsubscribe' and write the word 'unsubscribe' in the body of the message. IF YOU GET MAIL IN LIST MODE (i.e. you get each message individually) then you need to send a message to KENT-ENG-L-request@rootsweb.com In the subject line write the word 'unsubscribe' and write the word 'unsubscribe' in the body of the message. If all has gone to plan you will receive an automatic notice from rootsweb telling you that you are now unsubscribed. NB Do not send an unsubscribe request as a reply to a message on the list. Please send it as a new message. PROBLEMS: 1) you send a message to digest mode when you are subscribed to list mode or vice versa. You will receive a message telling you your name has not been removed because you weren't on the list. Double check which mode you are subscribed to and make sure the message goes to the correct one. 2) You send a message to the correct mode but still get the message that says you have not been removed because you are not on the list- Have you changed ISP/email address recently? You can ONLY unsubscribe from the address which is on the computer list. If you subscribed under an address which you no longer use then email me privately and I will manually unsub it for you. If you have several email addresses then the following URL may help you ( http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com ). This will tell you which lists you are subscribed to and from which addresses. 3) You have unsubscribed successfully but you still receive mail from the list;. Sometimes it can take a few hours for the server to activate the unsubscribe command, during which time messages will still be sent to you. Also don't forget that messages can fly into cyberspace and stay there for days or weeks before they turn up. There is nothing to be done about these situations, they will sort themselves out. If anyone has any queries about all this then contact me on hammond123hammond@btinternet.com Regards Stuart Hammond Kent List Administrator
