    1. [KENT-ENG] St Margaret's, Lee - marriage 1820

    3. For years, I've been looking for the marriage of my gggrandfather Edward Thomas FARMER to Susannah ? - he came from a Bermondsey (Surrey) family and there is a connection (his mourning ring has been handed down as a family heirloom) through Susanna with Amos ASQUITH, who was either her father or grandfather, a Bermondsey brewer who died in 1793, so I disregarded this marriage in the IGI, thinking that Kent was unlikely. EDWARD THOMAS FARMER Marriages: Spouse: SUSANNA WIGMORE 12 MAR 1820 Lee, Kent, England M016504 However, browsing through the Ancestry LMA collection, I discovered that Lee was in the Hundred of Lewisham (only about 6 miles from Bermondsey) and some of the St Margaret's records are in the database. The marriages, however, end at 1813. My local FHC has just broken its only fiche reader (wasn't me, honest!), so getting the film isn't an option at the moment. I'm hoping the marriage entry will give Edward's parish as St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey. I've Googled and there seem to be some transcriptions in the Lewisham library but not for the period I am interested in. I'd be grateful for any ideas as to where I can find out the details of the marriage; their first child was born in March 1821, so it fits. Anne South Australia

    3. Anne, I don't have the necessary PR but a quick search at ParishRegister.com does show a Edward Thomas Farmer as a hit on the register for St Mary Magdalene (Bermondsey) between 1782 & 1812. The detail is only available with payment.
