    2. If you're using FreeBMD, click on the page number in the results to find all other entries recorded on that page, it usually returns two men and two women although earlier pages had four couples. 3. On Ancestry - Find the partner - then click on the Page Number - that brings up the other marriages recorded on the same Page. Note sometimes with different entries for the same person due to the way the transcription of the records has been done. Sometimes the page number is missing or wrong, therefore look at the actual image and work out the page number. Then Use the Refine box to enter what details you do know.

I think you are referring to www.freebmd.org.uk which is currently up to 1935 so far with a fair percentage done up to 1940. Search for the name of the person of interest, then click on the blue reference number and it will give you the names of the other people who appear on the same page. It works so long as there isn't more than one bride with the same given name! Where that happens, you might be lucky with one of the children being given the mother's maiden name as a middle name. Same, of course, applies to grooms where you may know his given name but not his surname. Depending on which parish the family lived in and when, you might be able to find their marriage in Ancestry UK's new parish registers. If you don't get a hit, it doesn't mean your couple didn't marry there. It could be down to a yet to appear parish or year or Ancestry's well known giddy indexing. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

    3. Hi, When I searched - it brought up 4 names - but two were highlighted - the ones I had searched for. It just happened that way with your particular search. You'll see an explanation of what the different shading means above the results. "Change of shade means a possible gap in the data". I was looking for a LEWIS/PRITCHARD marriage. I found it in the June qtr of 1867. Put those names and the year into FreeBMD and have a look at the entries and you'll see what I mean. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

    3. Hi Gary, You want http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl There are also pay to view sites such as www.ancestry.co.uk and findmypast On free bmd you can put in two surnames (one for hubby and one for wife) to see if there are marriages. Birth registrations after 1911 I believe, also give the mothers maiden name.
