    1. [KENT-ENG] address in Lee, Kent
    2. George Whatson
    3. Does anyone live near or can look at an address for me. My husband's grandmother was a " live in servant" at 55 Bevant Ash Road, Lee, Kent before her marriage in 1894. I'd like to know if the road is still there, and is there a house at no. 55, if so does it appear to be a house of 115 years old. If it appears to be of that vintage, I would appreciate a photograph, with many thanks. Beryl in Australia

    3. Beryl, The address will probably be Burnt Ash Road (now London SE12), and the street is still there. You'll find it on Google Maps. Using Street View (pull down the orange man), it seems that there is new housing on the odd-numbered side of the road at the relevant point. However, the numbering may have changed since 1894. The LCC's published "List of the Streets and Places ... London 1929" shows no renumbering of Burnt Ash Road up to 1929, but there may have been some later. For further information you should check with Lewisham Local Studies, who also have many old photographs. http://tinyurl.com/b6klbt Meanwhile, there is a range of photos of old Lee on the Ideal Homes site. http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/lewisham/main/images-lee.htm HTH Judy London, UK -----Original Message----- From: kent-eng-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:kent-eng-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of George Whatson Does anyone live near or can look at an address for me.
