Two of my ancestors (husband and wife) died in the cholera epidemic of 1846, within ten days of each other. The wife died before it was realised that this was a cholera epidemic and the cause of death was given as 'natural congestion of the lungs'. When her husband died the cause of death was given unambiuously - 'cholera'. Brenda
