Hi Pam et al Another reason could be that one of the parties is already married to someone else and unable/or unwilling to obtain a divorce. I have one on my tree that married after all the children in his second relationship were born. His first wife died which enabled him to eventually marry. Regards Kevin Wilson
Yes of course, and divorce was very expensive. Bigamy (if caught) resulted in being sent to Oz as a convict in some cases. So they would wait until one party died possibly. I forgot that, and have one in my tree.
